Yes, Jimmy Rollins did predict that the Phils were the team to beat in the division, and yes he was right. But this year J-Roll has said he thinks the Phillies will win 100 games. That is alot of games after a Phillies off-season where they lost All-star centerfielder Aaron Rowand to the Giants and the only major pickup was closer Brad Lidge. Lidge was far from impresive the last couple of years in Houston and got injured on his forst pitch in a Phillies uniform. So the question is:
Is Jimmy Rollins crazy or can the Philadelphia Phillies really win 100 games this year?

90+ is a lock. 100 will be tough.

100 Wins is alot of games, especially when ur rotation isnt dynamic and ur lineup lost a big piece.

I was one of the first people to say resign Rowand, but I don't know why you think he was such a big piece. He was good, I loved the way he played and his leadership with the team, and I was upset when he left, but it isn't as big of a loss as you think. Replacing the Nunez/Helms 3rd base with Feliz is a BIG step up offensively and defensively, especially offensively in CBP. The Rowand loss will hurt, and although I think we over paid for Jenkins, he will be a nice edition if Werth can do what he did last year against lefties, providing Jenkins with time off and not having to face lefties. I still do think 100 games would be extremely tough to do, and as of now I don't think it will happen, but the Rowand loss isn't near as big as you make it out to be Moses.

Yeh, Rowand was good. But he wasn't like a game saver or anything, maybe here and there...but so is Shane Victorino every now and then. Point is, the guy in center now is faster, is a good #2 lineup role hitter....and the improvement at 3rd will make up for it. Nevertheless, 100 wins is a really really hard thing to do in today's MLB. 90-99 wins, plus a division title. Guaranteed.

I am feeling grouchy right now, so it's hard for me to see the Phillies getting to 90 wins this year. I know we're better in the infield (expecially 3rd and catcher - Carlos Ruiz, Chris Coste but NO Rod Barajas), but we lost some in the OF (Michael Bourne, Aaron Rowand). Where we needed the most help, is where the Mets seem to have leaped past us--pitching. I liked the idea of signing a closer so that Brett Myers could move back into the rotation. But this whole Brad Lidge thing has me shaking my head in disbelief. Freddie AnGarcia, and now Lidge? Come on! If it looks like something, sounds like something and smells like something, its probably something............. What happened, were the Phillies designated as the pitcher-re-hab club of the NL? I saw quite a few 'warning posts' on one of Tals threads from Astros fans about Lidge. But come on! One Pitch!!!!!

Im not the only one saying that its a loss, ive read many articles that have said the same thing. Yes Rowand had a career year for a big payday, but he was better protection for Burrell and Howard. If Burrell starts slow like he did last year, i hope you dont expect Jenkins, Werth, Feliz or Ruiz to put up big numbers. All those guys with exception to Jenkins are career .250 hitters, and Jenkins is over the hill. Now Feliz is probably an upgrade, but he's nothing to brag about. That's like me saying..our lineup will be better because we got Ryan Church who replaced Shawn Green and he's a better hitter than all of the guys i just mentioned on the Phillies.

100 wins is not out of the question because utley, rollins and howard. Plus hamels and myers are all entering the prime of their careers. Big season from the Phillies in 08

Wow i didnt know a team can win 100 games with just 3 batters and 2 Starting Pitchers. I guess we better just give the Mets the world championship since they have...The Best starting pitcher in baseball, best starting pitcher of this Decade(Pedro), Best 3B and CF in the National League...The stolen base champ in MLB for the last 2 years..Best pinch hitter in baseball..and probably the best 3 and 4 starters in the NL.
Better get that bubbly ready, considering The Mets have the better team. Dont have to believe me, just check power rankings, vegas odds, Baseball analyst, etc.
