I like Dan Conner or a DL or an OL prospect.........But we will take a RB or a CB because Matt 'The Exorcist " Millen is clueless.......I like the comment about the Eagles, build from the trenches and move forward........

Get used to it man. Unless thr Fords sell the team, you are stuck with Millen. He'll never be fired because he has pictures. Maybe they'll take another WR.

RB, CB, DE, DT and OT all deserve to be in consideration for that first round pick. The general opinion is that it would be too high in the draft for Dan Conner (and it would seem that MLB Curtis Lofton in round 2 would seem to be a better value as a possible prospect).

If the Lions all of a sudden became good, I don't think my Dad's poor old fragile heart could handle the shock of it!!!!
There have been worst teams in regards to scouting talent than the Lions though.... that's for sure.

I see the Lions going after a RB in the 1st round (15).
If they do that, go ahead and Grab your franchise RB in Mendenhall or Stewart., to build around., take your 2nd round draft pick and your 3rd round draft pick (you got from Cleveland) and move up in the 2nd round and take a decent player like Cason, or Otah (Otah's stock is falling somewhat so its possible he could fall into the early part of the 2nd round). BUT as a Lions fan, "THE EXORCIST" will scare the talent out of any player, at any position, in any round, soooooooo on paper the draft might look good, but the Lions will purr for the 51st year in a row. The Lions will not ROAR until WCF SR. and MM are no longer in control..... May God Have Mercy On Our Michigan Souls!!!

yes i agree. the Lions by far are the worst franchise overall. i mean they have been rebuilding since 1957. matt millen is a joke. you see teams all the time have a bad few years but eventually turn it around. not the lions they should probably look at the other teams around the league and take a page out of there books.

I feel bad for whoever the Lions draft. Detroit is the place where young talent comes to die. You can look at our drafts for the past 5 years and it is an absolute joke. I hope Millen gets fired or the franchise moves to LA. It sucks being a Lions fan.

The Lions need defense help in the worst way they should make a trade with my Eagles for DB Lito Sheppard and our pick for one of your one of their wideouts.
But knowing Matt Millen he will use the pick for a offensive skill person.

Well, clearly the smart thing to do would be continue to strengthen the defense and take a RB in the mid rounds, as mid round RB's historically tend to do about as well as the ones taken in round 1. But by flat out cutting KJ as Millen did I think he is pretty deadset on once again drafting an offensive skill player.
Just want to note that he also cut Kalimba Edwards, the guy he was raving about and just a year ago gave a big 5 year extension too. That will be a nice chunk of change against our cap for the incoming years, though FA's don't want to come here anyway.

As much as we need a linemen , a franchise running back is needed if your going to commit to the runing game. There will be linemen in the second round for the Lions to get as well. The only reason the lions don't draft Rashard Mendenhall is if one of the better D line men fall (gholston, ellis, glen dorsey) Highly improbable though. the lions also need Middle linebacker as well so expect them to try to get one of those too. Can people please refrain from bashing the lions because they have been making strides since the hiring of marinelli. Since he has been there the lions have picked up good players and some others that can make some strides in the future(Ernie Sims, Calvin Johnson,Gerard Alexander, Daniel Bullocks). They went 7-9 and have had some very close games in which shotty line play , average pressure, and an unbalanced Martz attack has cost them games at the end of the game. They almost beat the Cowboys, the Packers, and had a good chance of winning against the superbowl champions. If they pick some more players and Millen just lets marinelli make the personnel decisions than the lions can be playoff hopefuls with a potent offence and an average defence.

Why do you think the Lions can take a guy considered a prospect and make him anything other than a bust? In cutting Jones, they will certainly take a running back with their first pick, and maybe (if Millen is taking a piss break) make a deal packaging one of their 2's and one of their 3's to move up a bit in round 2 to take that MLB they need so desperately. After that it should be best available for the rest of the weekend. This team needs a good O-Line, but no one of 1st round value will be left at 15....so the best choice is to take either Mendenhall or Stewart, and since Stewart just had surgery for Turf Toe, and most likely wont be ready to go full out by the time training camp comes around, Mendenhall is the choice.

wow, I was just looking at the Detroit Lions draft from 1999 to present, and they have gotten two pro bowl players since then, Roy Williams and Shaun Rogers, and they traded rogers away. They had one pick in the first round in the 2005 draft, how did that happen? I don't really recognize any of the players that had a impact that was drafted from 1999 till present, cept maybe Ernie Sims, but then I'm not very familiar with the Lions roster. Lions seriously need to bring in a new GM and bring in some brains

Hey genius, this was a moch draft, Millen hasn't picked anyone yet!!!! Dan Connor should not be picked as high as 15. Even more so no MLB will be able to step right in and play int he Tampa 2. No O lineman who will still be there at #15 will be able to step in and play next year. NONE!!!! We need a guy who will contribute next year no matter what position we take!!!

Hey dlinebass5:
I believe tampabaybishop meant to communicate "Mock Draft." I'm sure you have made spelling errors before in previous posts. Let's keep this board informative, not negative....
