We made a board like this over on the Boston Bruins page, it has been a huge success. So i decided to make on for the Celtics.
I just want to start a one stop thread about everything Celtics!
Just trying to make one thread for those who post here regularly so we don't have to open 10 threads everytime we visit. Especially when a lot of the threads end up talking about the same things. Wouldn't it be easier to just go to the same thread everytime you visit and see all the posts from your favorite members all in one place? Just an idea.
To encorage this thread being used, I will Five Star and Favorite any person to use this thread with productive posts.
You can talk about anything, players, coaches, dancers, possible trades, the current game whatever as long as it is about the Celtics!

So who are you guys thinking is the number one challenger in the playoffs in the east. The 4 big candidates in the east are Cleveland, Detroit, Orlando, and Toronto.
Cleveland- A big wild card because James can explode at any time. But with how well the played defense on him the last game I dont think they can match us in a series.
Detroit- My pick for biggest threat, just because we know how physical they are. So they can where you down in a series
Orlando- Same scenario as Detroit but will likely be the #3 seed, so they will be knocked out before the Celtics could match up against them unless they reach the Eastern Finals
Toronto- Potential matchup in Eastern Semi's... I don't think they have the firepower to match the Celtics

So a game against Chicago tonight, the schedule makes tossed the Celtics a bone before giving them a brutal stretch. For the second straight game the Celtics will play a team that it on the second night of a back-to-back. The Celtics should be able to win tonight, although the Bulls have been on a small streak. It is only two games but the have won both by double digits. Chicago is right on the bubble for making the play-offs so they should be in "every game counts" mode. I'm hoping the starters can come out and lay the smack on the Bulls so we can get Sam Cassell and possibly P.J. Brown some low pressure minutes.
Also on the record watch. Kevin Garnett can reach the 20,000 point plateau tonight as long as he gets 23 points tonight. When he reaches this mark he will be the 32nd player in league history to reach the mark.
This was posted this morning on the Celtics Website:
Sam Cassell is expected to meet with reporters tonight before the Celtics host the Bulls at the Garden.
At this point, it's unknown whether Cassell will dress or play tonight, but we'll have more details in this space before tip-off.
Well... i'm gonna go watch the pre-game, the game is at 8 tonight

The way that Doc River sounded is that Sam Cassell might dress tonite, but will probably will not play. I havent heard if P.J. Brown will get any signifigant minutes, but i think the Celtics will be using alot of there bench from here on out now that they clinched the playoffs, so whenever Cassell and Brown are rready then they should be able to get some good time brfore the Celtics go into the playoffs. I think Pierce goes for 30 this game KG might get to 23 and Alen goes for about 16 points.

The two most difficult matchups that the Celtics have in the East are the Pistons and the Magic. The Pistons have a very good team oriented system where nobody is the standout go to guy as Richard Hamilton, Chauncey Billups, and Rasheed Wallace could be the team leader in points every night which presents matchup problems anytime, but the Celtics seem to have a bit of the same remedy with the big three so you know any game between them is going to be a good one.
The main problem with the Magic is trying to stop Superman Dwight Howard. every time the Celts have played he has just been virtually unstoppable and Kendrick Perkins can never even come close to being able to cover him and he is just too big for Kevin Garnett to be able to cover him for a whole game, so he draws alot of double teams which leaves players like Hedo Turkoglu and Jameer Nelson open on the outside.
I cant wait to see how the Celtics do in the playoffs this year and regardless of the outcome i think Danny Ainge has earned himself the executive of the year.

Just a note, I like what you are trying to do....keep up the good work....Garnett will get his pts. tonight....trust. At home with a feel good vibe knowing all our pieces are together (RIP Scott Pollard), and the possibility the news-but-olds may play (P.J. and Cassell), would make a great atmosphere for Garnett to get 20k. That said, I just want to reiterate how far our team has come this past season...I haven't seen such selfless play since....well I don't want to go there...it's just too easy. Sam could not have come into a better position for himself; good for him, he is a grinder. P.J Brown, let's just say that it will be a cold beer's smile just to watch him run up and down and grab some boards and some fouls. I love this time of year, and it is a thrill that Boston, as well as us die hards, are back being a part of it. I can't wait to see these guys on St. Patty's take it to the Spurs...these are hard tickets to come by in San Antonio, I had to sell my mother on e-bay just to place a bid!!!! Go Green....god bless mom.

A few random Celtics comments:
Everyone who says Sam Cassell is a character or leadership or locker room distraction or problem...
He's played with, and has close relationships with Garnett, Allen, and Posey.
He's also stated that HE IS HERE TO BACK UP Rajon Rondo.
He's stated it, he's fine with it. He's here to win a championship. That's all he's said, all he's talked about and I believe him.
I know about, and don't care about his past. We have a veteran point guard who could start on many teams, even though he is somewhat old, and could be the best backup point guard in the league.
Also... watching the C's - Bulls game.
Noah looks scared of Garnett. Like a baby. I would be too, but If I were a coach lookin at a young player like Noah, I'd worry about that. You've got to have confidence, do your thing, play your game, do what you're good at, no matter who's across from you.

I'd like to see Chris Duhon in a Celtics uniform next year, for a minimal price. He has always impressed me as a backup, pure PG.
I love that commercial which shows a montage of KG signing with the C's, and various Celtic fanatics' joyous reactions.
Danny Ainge has addressed every roster concern I've had, throughout the season. Both LeBron and the Pistons are huge obstacles, but I like the Celtics' chances of going to the Finals.
I'm not a big fan of Mark Jones or Stephen A. Smith.

I love that commercial
"i remember...finding out about you...(piano roll)"
The C's have alot of depth, i think Rondo is stepping up and by the way the threw Billups around wednesday, i think hes ALMOST ready for the playoffs. maybe after the Texas tour he will get a taste, especially if Houston stays as good as they do. I would hate to see them in the Finals, even without Yao. Perk is stepping up too, pullin down 31 boards in 2 games. Dwight Howard would be a good match up for the new and improved Perk, because Perk looks like Superman lately.
LeBron, no doubt about it, is a phenomenal player that just needs to mesh with a team. Hes got a contender with Wallace and a shooter with Wally, but I cant help but see him try to score 40 points a game in the playoffs to try to stay in it. 7 games like that against a young team like the Wizards in the first round would be a disaster. even if they get the 3 seed and match up with Detroit in the 2nd round, i dont think this is his year.
I'd love to see the C's spank the Lakers in a 4 game sweep in the Finals, but thats wishful thinking.

Hey, Bostonsportsgo,
I'm not as big of a Celtics fan as I am a Bruins fan but I'm here to lend my support to the team and your thread!
It's great to see both teams on Causway St. finally putting fans back in the seats! This summers aquisitions have been great for the Celtics and I hope they can do some heavy damage in the playoffs this year.
I don't know the Celtics the way I know the Bruins but I will definately be rooting for them!
Let's go Celtics!!!!

Great thread, Anyways great win by the Celtics! I think down the stretch Paul, ray ray and Garnett should not get too much playing time especially when we are blowing out teams in the third quarter and 4th quarter, there is no need for stupid injuries. I love how the whole teams focus right now, Rondo is playing fantastic! I honestly love this kid and i'll probably the first to admit that i wasn't too excited in the beginning of the year when Rondo was starting as point guard. But he's playing great and we better lock this kid up for the future.

Great win last night... although there was a couple of things that went wrong... Tony Allen had another one of his, I can't do anything night. Ignore the fact that he didn't have any points... he barely even had any shots... I can only remember him having one that he ended up using the wrong hand and missed by a foot on a roller. I loved Tony Allen up until his injury and I am all for his comeback... but I don't think we should try to force the issue. so which would you rather have as our 1st second team. My pick is in bold
C Glen Davis
PF Leon Powe
SF James Posey
SG Tony Allen
PG Sam Cassell
C P.J. Brown
PF Glen Davis
SF James Posey
SG Tony Allen
PG Sam Cassell
C P.J. Brown
PF Leon Powe
SF James Posey
SG Tony Allen
PG Sam Cassell
C Glen Davis
PF Leon Powe
SF James Posey
SG Eddie House
PG Sam Cassell
C P.J. Brown
PF Glen Davis
SF James Posey
SG Eddie House
PG Sam Cassell
C P.J. Brown
PF Leon Powe
SF James Posey
SG Eddie House
PG Sam Cassell
Other than that... I like what I saw from P.J. Brown... he still needs to gather his legs... and it felt like Eddie House was forcing the ball a little to much to him as sort of a "welcome to the party" thing... But he played solid, smart defense... and seemed to have good instincts on the board

boston-I agree with your 1st second team selection for right now. For everything they have done this year both Powe and Davis deserve the ability to keep playing some good minutes. PJ will take a while to get back into shape after sitting out the beginning of the year. I'm really looking for him to get more and more minutes in this stretch run and then be ready for the postseason. I love having Eddie at shooting guard because he has such a quick release and can get hot and carry this group for 3-5 minutes. I'm just glad I will not have to go through the pain of watching him try to take the ball up the court against pressure anymore. Let him stay on the wing and have Sam I Am drive and kick to him and Posey. Sam has always been the player on the other team that I hate the most when we play them, but now I am so happy he has joined the squad. His experience (yes an overused word) is important, but I believe his passion and ability to hit big shots will make us even more dangerous in the playoffs. Any close game coming down to the final minutes I see Sam, Ray, Paul, KG, Posey/Perk (depending on defensive matchups). As much as I love everything Rondo has done this year, his job is to lead the team for the first three and a half quarters, then I see Doc turning the squad over to Sam.

I totally agree with you, Bostonsportsgo. Though i think Tony's good, i think Eddie would come out as a better back - up than Tony, Just because of the shooting ability. I like the last one you have, but I don't think Pj's been playing enough for me to know weather or not I like him or not.
