Pryor is waiting until the last minute to see if PSU names Tom Bradley the successor. If this happens, he will come to Penn State. If it does not happen, he will go to Ohio State or possibly Michigan.

While Pryor is close with Bradley, this isn't the case.  Pryor is going to tOSU, and he'll be announcing soon (probably the 17th, but possibly the week after).  He is simply waiting to give PSU a visit out of respect for his father and the PSU coaches who recruited him.  With his busy basketball schedule, he hasn't been able to make an official visit to PSU yet.  Unless he sees something that he REALLY likes, he's not going to be swayed from tOSU.

I can't imagine that a successor would be named in the next few weeks... a requirement to make the "if this happens, he will come Penn St" valid.  If it does, PSU missed an opportunity with other recruits this year.

FSU has a solid recruiting class because kids know there is some stability in the program whether or not Bowden stays on as HC (a rich tradition doesn't hurt either).  PSU could've made the same commitment and lured recruits for the same reasons... stability and tradition.

If they intend to make a commitment to another coach, they should've done it this year.  Otherwise they might as well wait until mid next year to meet up with the '09 recruiting cycle.

This is NOT why Pryor is delaying.  He's delaying because he's still playing basketball.  Incidently if they win in the semis he will be playing at PSU and may make his visit immediately afterwards.  He will be a Buckeye though so don't make any bets.

rparlion,

thats what im saying. Nobody has any clue where this kid wants to go. Im sure if he was dead set on any particular school he would have said by now. Its very obvious he is considering osu, psu, and mich heavily right now but IMO if he had a solid favorite he would have decided by now. Alot is at stake for each school.

If he goes to Michigan he would be the embodiment of the new era of football at mich and a starter as a freshman, the downside he wont have the talent around him at least until 09 or 10 to make a national title run, and nobody knows how RR's philosophy will work at mich.

If he goes to OSU his freshman year they will be making a NC run, he'll have an established coach with talent around him for the entire tenure he is there, but he wont be starting until his sophmore year.

If he goes to PSU he will be a starter his freshman year and he may very easily be the difference between going 9-4 or competing for a national championship, the only real downside is the head coaching situation.

They all have their upsides and downsides, the general downside is that no mater where he goes hes gonna piss two other schools off.

Greg Schiano is the most likely successor for JoePa, which is why he turned down Michigan, leading to Rodrigez's hiring.  So, I don't believe a successor will be named prior  to Pryor's decision.

In my opinion, I think Pryor and his family want to go to Penn State, but the uncertainty of the situation caused them to look elsewhere.

I may be wrong, but it seems like more than a coincidence that Pryor has not decided and JoePa is working out his exit strategy.

why is everyone stressing about pryor so much He could be great but about 5 out of your top 10 recruits every year flop or become just average with especially high rates at the position of quarterback... I think you PSU OSU are a little too worried about it... i can see why michigan is however

I heard that Pryor really wants to go to Temple and he is just messing with all of these other schools.

Fastazz,

First off, i believe the Michigan is off the list completely and its only OSU and PSU.  And there is no way he starts as a freshman at Penn State.  I guarentee it.

I don't know why every time we talk about Pryor that OSU fans are so sure he's going there. If he were so sure he wouldn't have even put Penn State back on his top schools. So obviously Tressel hasn't exactly sealed the deal. And Michigan would be more enticeing football wise given he would be playing OSU every year and given all of the Buckeyes' troubles against the spread option, Pryor would tear them a new one and easily become a legend in Michigan. Both of the other schools have a past great to use as an example of how much success he can have (Michael Robinson with PSU and Troy Smith with the Bucks) but for some reason, Michigan and RR's style of offense. Oh an marmy, I can definately see a parade in philly if Pryor shocks the world and goes to Temple. Women crying, babies being named after him, the key to the city, all of that good stuff lol and Rich Rodriguez jumping off the highest building he can find. A win win for everyone!

I know they always say he is waiting until BBall season is over, but my thinking is that if he left tOSU without committing last month, he isnt going there.

FYI, Tom Bradley will in all honesty not be named Paterno's successor.  I would be extremely surprised if he were, based on information I have.  Which I'm a bit torn about - he is a very good D-Coordinator and recruiter.  I would go as far and say that if/when he isn't named head coach at PSU he probably leaves.  Much like Jerry Sandusky and Fran Ganter got sick of waiting around for Joe to retire.

The lines in the story that Prior is waiting for Joe's exit strategy is bunk.  As mentioned, he is still playing basketball.  I don't have a clue where he is going.  The only thing I have read is that his family would love for him to go to a school close by.  But how much that plays a part in his decision, I have no idea.  I don't really expect him to choose Penn State, if he does, excellent, we'd love to have him.  He is an extremely gifted athlete and in college, these gifted, athletic QBs win games.  Period.

By the way.. Pryor only has Penn state on his interest list to please his dad.. His dad wants him to atleast consider Penn state since its close to home.. and thats all he's doing is "considering" them. hes going to go to Ohio state or Michigan, case closed.
