What do you all think? Iowa is not really lighting it up here at the end of the year, and Michigan looks to be either a good team or a team that didn't show up?
I would love to win this one, but realistically I have to say this is a toss up game. Who really knows what will happen. Just glad I work from home and get the BTN.
It is a toss-up, for the reason that neither team is very good (though obviously not as bad as Northwestern, who Michigan lost to). It was disappointing how Iowa finished the year, but Michigan finished poorly, too.
Both teams have the problem that their guards are their primary shot takers and most of them are shooting at 40% or lower overall.
This has probably been the most frustrating year I've seen. I was expecting a rebuilding year under Lickliter. But these guys have shown signs of being a decent team w/the OSU & MSU wins (and playing Indiana & Wisconsin tough), so I get my hopes up, only to see them lose to Penn St and Illinois. I think their youth and short bench wears them down in the 2nd half (which accounts for their inevitable 2nd half scoring drought each game).
I think on a neutral court, we can beat Michigan, but unfortunately it's going to be 1 and done. I don't this team has enough to win 4 in a row.
I will still take a 13-18 season under Lickliter than a winning season with Alford.
I second you on the Alford thing. Some of his teams had some pretty good talent and didn't even make the big dance, or lost in the first round to a nobody. I had been hoping to get rid of him for a long time.
As far as the game against Michigan, I think Iowa can win it, but I don't see them getting much farther. Quite frankly, as much as it pains me to say it, they don't deserve to go any farther.
Thank GOD it's over, the game and the season. Spring practice will start soon and I hope we can get the season started off in a positve direction lord knows we need some thing positve to rally around as hawk fans beside Wrestling and Womans B-Ball that is, Congrats to those 2 programs.
The worst part about today's game is that I have two brothers who are Michigan fans. Other than that, I'm not really surprised. Iowa has not looked halfway decent since the beginning of the Big Ten season. No real shocker. It was a battle between two mediocre teams. Now I can just sit back and wait for football to start.
