The NL east is one of the best divisions in baseball (at least top 3). But one place it is the best is at Shortstop. Come on  Jose Reyes, Jimmy Rollins, AND Hanley Ramirez. Three of the best SS all in the same division.

But it is arguable which is the best. So the question is who is the best shortstop in the NL east?

well, it's hanley, unless you count defense.  then it's really hard to choose.  i'd say rollins for having the total package.

Well the best hitter is Ramirez, period. No comparison. Unfortunately the question is who is the best shortstop.

I would have to say that Rollins is the best overall player, and therefore right now the best shortstop.

Fielding-wise Reyes and Rollins are similar. But Rollins has the edge offensively at the moment. In about 3 years I think the tide wil have shifted here.

Ramirez has a tin glove and averages 25 errors a season. he needs to improve defensively before he can be considered the best.

MeatPipe said it EXACTLY right. I'm sure in 3 years Reyes will be the premier "overall" SS in the NL East but today that honor goes to Rollins.

On a side note, in a few years Troy Tulowitzki may surpass all of them.

Right now, Rollins for his leadership, But Ramirez will probably surpass him in the future if he can stay healthy and consistent. Reyes is solid, but he's #3 here.

By the time Ramirez is as good or as better than Rollins or Reyes he will be no longer a Marlin.  I have a hard time believing that Florida will pay the money needed to keep Ramirez in Miami.  Sounds like someone that the Yankees will eye as a replacement for Jeter and the Red Sox because they haven't had a star shortstop since Nomar.
