TU NIT bound?

Being a student during the Tubby Smith era and a season ticket holder during the Bill Self era, it's gratifying to see Doug W. take an 8 man team to the C-USA tourney finals.

But who the heck schedules a final game 12 hours after the semi-final game?  This definitely favors Memphis.

Hopefully, this run solidifies TU's chances at the NIT, which they won under Buzz Peterson and Nolan Richardson.

And Jerome Jordan and Ben Uzoh are only sophomores!!!!!!

Jordan for tourney MVP.

I agree that Tulsa has solidified themselves as an NIT team, assuming they don't elect to go the the CBI tournament.   Both tournaments will be competing for the same schools.  Tulsa has been playing as good as anyone in the country since the loss at Houston.  Being a Marshall fan, I've been talking all season about both the strength and youth of C-USA.  So many teams are very young, including Tulsa.  So young in fact, that many were learning the college game the first half of the season and their OOC record is not indicative of how good these teams are.

I will root for Tulsa against Memphis today, just because I would love to see C-USA get two teams in the tournament.  If they lose, we'll root for them to win the NIT or CBI.

Amongst those young teams is UAB (no seniors in starting line-up), Marshall returning 4 guys that have scored at least 20 points in a game and capable of averaging in double figures, including Tyler Wilkerson, a sophmore who came a live the last 13 games with 6 double doubles during that stretch.

With these young teams coming out of the gate hard next year, the RPI's and records should be much stronger.  I see 3 or 4 teams from C-USA qualifying next year.
