Wiliam Buford, Ohio's Mr. Basketball, has commited to OSU and has just finished his high school career.

Not sure if anyone follows Ohio high school b-ball, but this kid is pretty good. He led his Libbey Cowboys (from my hometown, Toledo) to the Div. 2 State championship game but came up 5 seconds short. Libbey took a 1 point lead with 5 seconds left in OT, but Chilicothe broke their full court press, drove the lane and scored to win the game.

Libbey wasn't even suppose to get past sectionals.

This kid is pretty good, and will be a great addition to the already talented freshman coming in next year.

Buford is awesome.  He will be a great addition.  I think he is what they need right now.  Someone who will take over and be a leader, because for the last 4 years they have had Jamar Butler to do that roll.  Although my outlook for OSU next year is mixed.  Unfortunately, I think the loss of Butler will hurt OSU in a bigger way then they ever expected.  If Koufos leaves for the NBA, I think they will be hurting really really bad.  If koufos stays, I'm still not sure they win 20 games.

I disagree.

With Mullens and Buford coming they could be a force to be reckonded with in the big ten. they will be even better if Kofas and Dibieler say at OSU

Also I felt really bad after listening to Libbey's game on the radio in the state championship when they lost to the Cavailers.

Esspecially after watching Libbey play four times in state tournment.

Unfortunately I don't keep up on Ohio High School basketball anymore. Live in California now. Chillicothe was Division I in my day, so seeing them in II was a suprise to me. Not as big of a surprise as Diebler leaving OSU. Where in the heck does he think he is going? transferring schools?

I had not heard Diebler was leaving.  As for Koufus, he really needs to hit the weight room in the off season and play another year in the NCAA.  He has a lot of skills, but he gets stripped of the ball too easily.  He needs to be able to hang on to the rock.

I see the posts hinting that Diebler is leaving... where is that coming from? Is this as a transfer to another school or to leave to play in the Euro league? No way he can compete in the NBA this early in his career!

Assuming Kufos stays this is what OSU starting 5 could look like:

PG Anthony Crater or Evan Turner

SG Evan Turner or William Buford

SF David Lighty or Jon Diebler

PF Kosta Kufos

C B.J. Mullens

with mullens and kufos on the inside and crater and lighty as that defensive stoppers on the perimeter it will be tough for Ohio state to not contend for the Big Ten title.

It will be hard for the Bucks to be consistant enough to challenge for a Big Ten title with that much inexperience on the floor - but the talent is there.

No way Turner will ever play PG - his ball handling skills are nowhere near up to that.  Turner will be the SF with Diebler or Lighty spelling him.  I don't know too much about Crater, but I thought I had heard he was a SG.  IMO, the PG will be either Hill or Buford (and I hope it isn't Hill unless he gets a whole lot better in the offseason.)

The reason OSU competed this season was because they had a veteran PG.  They won't have that next season.  While they will have a lot of young talent it will be tough to contend for the Big 10 without experience at the point.
