Have watched the Irish a few times this year... I think we can match up with them well... hopefully our boys get out there early to adjust to the altitude... with two guys that have asthma it makes me nervous what impact the climate will have...

I agree, I think we match up very well vs. ND and I loved the statistic on espn about ND's last 3 tourny appearances, them losing by double digits. Their best guy is a F and Will Thomas is ours and personally, we win with experience and Will being an awesome player. JV will be able to guard their 2nd scorer and well we have 4 or 5 scorers depending upon the night, gonna be a tough night for them to stop all of em! Go Mason!

Notre Dame's a 5 seed and ranked for a reason. Luke Harangody is the Big East Player Of The Year averaged 20 PPG and 10 RPG. He's the best player in arguably the best conference in the NCAA's. He's a damn beast. KyleMcAlarney hits 3's from anywhere on the court...and I mean anywhere. He hit 10 against 'Cuse one game. ND has their best team in years and they're coming off a sour NCAA loss last year and sour Big East tourney loss earlier in the week. Sorry, but George Mason won't be 'this year's George Mason." Notre Dame is too god for them. They can get scores from anyone they put out there and one of the best perimeter teams in the country.

That's nice you think so. Remember Dre Smith was 10-10 for 3s in one game this year as well, and I'm pretty sure that Kyle McAlarney missed some of his 10. 2ndly, good luck guarding Will Thomas, he is much more agile and skilled than your boy Luke Harangody. Will has outplayed the 2 best big men in the country, Michael Beasley and Tyler Hansborough. Sorry G-Rich, but you can't beat that resume.
Have a nice time watching this Mason team demolish the "upper ranks" of NCAA basketball and show them how great of a team and coach we have.

Go Patriots man I think we have a GREAT shot to beat ND. Just being in the tourney this year is great though if we lose it was still a very succesful season, great that Will and Folarin got a CAA tourney championship to add to their amazing college careers.

I feel Mason has a good shot to defeat ND. Ideally, if Mason can make it so only one or two of their players can score and aren't too dependent on Thomas to bail us out, they can so steal this one.

Mason's win over K-State was on a neutral court (Orlando, FL)...Followed the next day by a loss to Villanova at the same tourney.
Overall, I think ND is salivating. They've been called the sexy-pick to go to (at least the Sweet 16) and have been proposed by a few to unseat UNC. Three of their 5 top scorers are all 6-8. Yikes. Mason has one 6-8+ guy on the roster, who usually sits. It's unlikely that 6-3 John Vaughn will be mathced up with a 6-8 G/F, so Mason's 6-6, 6-7, & 6-10 forwards need to step it up. Hopefully, ND will overlook/underestimate Mason although after 2006 I doubt that will happen. Further, GMU will need to start making some of its 3-pointers (the team is shooting less than 33% from 3 since Dre Smith had his 10 for 10 night) and free throws. If all of that happens and Mason can wear ND down at altitude - then its anyone's game. Go Mason!

Macalarny is actually one guy that does not scare me... he is 6'1 and I am going to love watching him try to shoot over Vaughn, Campbell, Tate and Long... all of whom have at least 2-3 inches on him... our guards, save for Dre who is quick, are all long and atheltic...
with the production Mason got out of Fleming (who can put a body on Harangody) in the CAA tournament I think we can at least slow him down (I would not mind a situation in which Harangody tries to beat us alone, because I dont think he gets it done, just ask Beasley about trying to beat Mason on his own)... my question is who is going to stop Will... generally speaking Harangody is not that great of a one on one defender... and I am licking my chops thinking about Kurz trying to defend Thomas in the post...
Harangody may have put up those kind of number... 20-10 is impressive... I think he is one of 25 players in the country to average a double double... but guess who one of the other ones it?
Will Thomas...
I am by no means saying we win this game... in fact this was the one team I did NOT want in the first round... but we got'em so hopefully we can find some of that Mason magic and go on one more ride..

Haha what game did Will Thomas outplay Beasley? The game where Beasley dropped 30 and 10? Thomas had 18 and 7 chief. To contrast Harangody had 19 and 14 playing against Beasley, while Beasley dropped 19 and 13 against Gody. Mason's not scaring anyone this year guys, sorry.

I'll cut you a break since you are in obvious need of reading comprehension 101... NOWHERE in my post did I say anything about Thomas outplaying or beating Beasley... what I said was in that game Mason was content to allow Beasley to try and beat them alone and he couldn't get it done...
I then went on to say how I would be ok with Harangody doing the same...
You are right... Thomas had nowhere near the game that Beasley did... but I'll take 18 points and seven boards in a win over 30 and 10 in a loss all day everyday... thanks for coming out

Hey moose I wasn't referencing you, sorry for not making that clear. Your "masonwakefan" buddy wrote that Will whatever his last name is has outplayed Beasley and Hansbrough. Sorry I might've hit reply on your post or something instead of his. Maybe you should have gotten the hint if NOWHERE in your post did you mention anything about it. Reading Comprehension 101? Come on now, give a domer a little more credit than that. The thing is that Harangody will not be beating you by himself. The Irish have the 2 best 3 point shooters in the Big East (McAlarney and Ayers), as well as 2 6'10'' guys who stroke it from deep. The big guys bring defenders out allowing Gody to do his thing, and he can kick it out to a plethora of shooters if Mason feels like throwing a double down on him. I don't know who mentioned McAlarney not getting shots off because your guards are 2 inches taller but whoever said it obviously hasn't seen the kid play. He'll take it from anywhere and make it from anywhere, regardless of there being a hand in his face or not. Ayers is also 6-8 and has no trouble shooting over guards. The Irish are not weak on offense, however their defense is suspect, and if GM is going to win the game, they're going to do it in a shootout. ND allows too many offensive rebounds and second looks, so my prediction is that whoever wins the rebounding battle wins this game. Obviously I think it'll be the Irish but I don't think an upset is out of the question. Please don't insult my intelligence again before reading what your fellow fans have posted. Thank you

and on paper it looks like it... that is why the play the games... hopefully your boys will adjust to the altitude and take 9% velocity off of their three point shots...
I am going to go ahead and throw the PC crap out the window... final score 71-64... touchdown Jesus is gonna be cryin at the end of this one... but don't worry, football is your game anyway... hasn't spring practice started yet?
