Got the deal. Home state games against out of state opponents even though they are worse seeded. Davidson's is the worst since it's opponent Gonzaga has to go clear across the country for its first round game. Talk about jet lag. I hope they were leaving today, because they just lost it (the day) while Davidson was practicing and warming up the bus.

It's not about Jet Lag, its about fanbase. Playing in a friendly environment near home means that you have the audience in your favor.
Davidson fans have to travel 170 miles to watch their team, slightly less than a 3 hour drive. For Gonzaga fans, they have to travel 2693 miles to watch their higher seeded team play. That means that most of the fans in attendance will most likely be Davidson fans. Not only do Davidson fans have a shorter distance to travel, it's a same state venue and there are probably quite a few Davidson alumni living in the raleigh area...probably not too many Gonzaga alumni there. Its a 7-10 matchup and the 10 seed will have more of a home advantage.
The same goes for the Texas Memphis game, if there is one. Austin is only 170 miles from Houston... there will probably be significantly more Texas fans at the game than Memphis. The location is clearly in favor of Texas fans, instead of the higher seeded Memphis.

LSU has been sent out West the last 5 times they made the tournament including as a 3 and a 4 seed. Now that is rough.

Gonzaga did get a bit screwed, but luckily they've been making road trips like this one all season so it shouldn't really be too much of a shock to the system. It also helps that there are many very wealthy Gonzaga alumni who not only charter flights for the Zags, but also are willing and able to travel with the team. I doubt the crowd will be as lopsided as many would think.
As far as Gonzaga being lucky to make the tourney...if you really believe that you aparently know nothing about college basketball outside of LSU. That "lucky" Gonzaga team has a better resume, higher RPI, and consequently higher seed than anyone in your SEC excluding Tennessee. Don't be a dolt...know what you're talking about before making ludicrous assertions.

Sure Gonzaga is used to traveling and this has happened before, but if its unfair, it should be changed.
Make a rule that the worse seeded team cant play in its' home state, keep that rule in place during the selection and you wont have this problem. I'd rather have two teams that have played each other before play on a neutral court than have a team get home court advantage.

Zags are in trouble. Not only is Davidson playing in NC they also have an unheralded star in Stephen Curry. Look for an upset in this one.

Curry put up amazing number against horrible, and I mean HORRIBLE, teams in a horrible conference. If he had done it against teams with any sort of talent he would be legit, but right now he's just a good player playing against bad players imo.
As far as Davidson's win streak which I keep hearing so much about...has anyone actually looked at who they played? Just about any tournament team would have the exact same streak against that competition...really, if you don't run the table in their conference you're not a very good team.
I just don't see Davidson doing anything unless Curry is better than he's billed which would be saying something. He probably needs to throw up about 30 to keep up with Gonzaga who has 7 legitimate scoring threats. If he can do that, Davidson has a chance...if he can't, I think it might be a slaughter.
This is all coming from a biased Gonzaga fan who hasn't even seen Davidson play, but I just don't think Davidson's schedule has them prepared to play a good basketball team...we shall see.
GO ZAGS!!!

Curry also scored 24 & 20 vs UNC and Duke...which aren't horrible teams. Curry's got a LOT of talent. The rest of the team...maybe not. After all, their big men are the same size as our guards (Micah Downs). I don't think they're such a sure thing as many people do, but I do think that they can give the Zags a run for their money. You're right though, if Curry doesn't get it done, it will be a slaughter. GO ZAGS!!

It's funny that your talking so bad about Davidson....A team that took the #1 overall seed down to the wire, Lost to Duke by 6 and Played till the final minutes with The Bruins.... Even tough, they didn't win any of those games that doesn't sound like the resume of a bad school. Who did the ZAG's play again?? Oh right!!! They Lost to Tennessee By 10 and a Highly overrated Memphis team. I doubt you should be talking crap about Davidson if anything you should be praying that the ZAG's don't become another upset story.
