After a disapointing but, fun filled loss to Houston what is the overall feeling of the 07-08 team?

By UNR standards it was a great year. You back a dumptruck full of cash up to Fox's house and dump it on his front lawn.  He's the only thing keeping UNR "basketball" from being a bigger joke than the Reno Sheriff's Dept.

Overall--B They exceeded a lot of peoples expectations however I think we all saw that when they played hard they were the best team in the WAC and should have won a few more games.

Big Men--D Demarshay was a huge disappointment for me I expected 12-15 pts and 8-10 boards a game, there were games I thought he was still ineligible meaning I did not even notice he was playing. McGee improved a lot from last year but I think we all disappointed because we know he could be sooooo much better. IF and that is a huge Steak dinner if he comes back, he will need mature or he will bring the team down. Ellis and LaGrone did a ok job in their roles. LaGrone needs to improve his skills so he can go from 5 min a game to 15-20 min otherwise we will need a lot of help underneath next year. Fox may want to find a big fat 6'7 JC guy who can board. Cook played well late in the season and will be a good player for us next year.

Wings-A- Kemp had a nice year. He meshed well with the young guards and never complained (at least that I noticed) when they missed him when he was open or when they made dumb freshman mistakes. He stopped forcing shots and you did not see the "I am gonna get mine attitude," he had at the end of last season. Without playing a lot of min last year Fields had a good Sophomore season. He is a good defender who has a scorers mentality, he was a little inconsistent but that is what happens when you are as thin as he is. He needs to put on some weight especially muscle. The weight room needs to be his number 1 priority. Kraemer (he is a Sophomore)..will help us a lot next year. He defends well and is solid with the ball and can really shoot it.

Point Guards--A- Armon was for a freshman-fantastic. He is the total Package but like Fields he needs to put on weight to continue to get better and the weight room needs to be his #1 priority as well. Burlesson along with Demarshay was disappointing but he is a great defender. He needs to get more aggressive on offense. He plays like he is scared.

Coaching--B and a F I give two grades for the coach because I think Fox is a great recruiter and for the most part does a nice job of managing games. There is no arguing about his record.

I give him an F because and I understand why (he doesn't want to lose him to the NBA) he did not coach McGee late in the season. I also give him an F because in the last two games in the biggest defensive series we played zone. We are not a zone team and although it was a great adjustment last night, when the game is on the line you go with what you do best and what you have done all season an. I also give him an F for never having an out of bounds (side or underneath) that they score out of. He is missing 4-8 points a game by not having an out of bounds play.

are kidding? it's a small miracle everytime UNR wins a game, and you won like what, around half of them this year? That's an incredible success that no one saw coming. CONGRATS AND ENJOY!!!!! You earned it.

It's amazing how people that don't follow Nevada beyond looking at the win loss column think that they are experts on the quality of the team.  Yes, Nevada southern has a better record, made it to the NCAA, and has a better overall history; but show some love for the recent success for the blue and silver.  We EXPECT to be competitive and win every year.  What got hooked as fans to the basketball team and can you blame us?  If we get lucky and keep McGee for another year and find a good big man at the J.C. level to come in we should see ourselves back where we've been at the last comple of years.

Hey wolfinit, don't sweat the trollin' chumps. This time next year they will be nowhere to be found. If Southern gets past Kent St. then they have the pleasure of getting throttled in round 2 by KU.

Overall I think we got pretty much what was expected this season. I've been saying since Dec. this wasn't going to be our year. But it was a solid building block for next. McGee coming back is key. Also looking forward to having another homegrown superstud player with Babbitt coming in. Also, a big man from the JC level is exactly right, wolf.

Who would have ever thought we'd have three possible starters from the Truckee Meadows with A. Johnson, Babbitt and Lagrone. Very cool.

What's so funny about the Reno Sheriff's Department?

It's one thing to bag on the Nevada Wolf Pack, but leave the Sheriffs department alone. That does NOT belong on this board. That is a very touchy subject with the recent Brianna case. I hold that dear to my heart so please be respectful.

First off the Brianna case is sad. I am pulling for the Reno community to catch that sick F. I have residences in both Reno and Vegas and I assure you that the Las Vegas community and the true Rebel fans (not the bandwagon fans) are pulling for the Reno PD to catch the sicko.

And I wouldn't say the season is a total loss. The team had talent, they were just inconsistent. I do admit I only saw a few UNR games (UNLV, CSU, NMST, and Houston). My only problem with Fox is that I don't like the way he acts. Do you think the inconsistency is the fault of the coach, team chemistry, or both?

Oh and the Nevada southern thing is tired.
