Pretty sure the announcer said that we average 26 three-point attempts a game, so doesn't seem like we tossed up a crazy amount of threes from what we are used to.
Akron gave us a hell of a game. We got up early by about 12 but then ended up getting down 12 at one point in the game. I thought that was going to be the point of the game where UMass packed it in for the season and just gave up with flashbacks to the Charlotte game. It was very inspiring to see them fight back and win that game.
Gary Forbes has got to start hitting better than 30% of his shots if UMass intends on going deep into this tournament. If Ricky Harris can keep his shooting up like it has been with Chris Lowe being a dominant PG at times, UMass should be looking good. Brower had a tough shooting day but I don't expect that to continue.
I think the surprise of the NIT for UMass has been Dante Milligan. I have always been a Dante fan, but knew that he wasn't a great player. Well in these first two games he has played very good basketball. Yes, his basketball IQ is still pretty bad and he does pick up some bad fouls, but he has been a consistent low-post scoring threat for us which is almost invaluable to this team.
With all this said, I hope Tony Gaffney is OK. It looked like he was in a terrible amount of pain and I don't expect him to play Tuesday night in Syracuse.
