Even though my Oral Roberts Golden Eagles lost yesterday they still had a really good season. They won the Summit League reagular season with a 21-8 record and 16-2 in conference play, which gave them the number 1 seed in conference tournament. From there they went on to win the Summit League tournament. The leaders of the team were Shawn King and Robert Jarvis.

The component driving MSU's run to the tournament was the frontcourt play of Suton, Naymick and Morgan. The Spartans are highly successful playing up-tempo, transitional basketball, the frontcourt being key.
Playing tight defense. Limiting the offense to one shot. Snatching rebounds, pushing the ball upcourt immediately through Neitzel and Lucas. Moving the ball inside-outside, scoring quickly. Whether setting picks and screens, keeping the ball alive on the offensive glass, driving aggresively to the basket or kicking it outside, the big guys are vital to winning. This is Spartan basketball at it's best, ready to keep playing through March.

Bigsportsfan -
Congratulations on advancing to the 2nd round! I enjoyed both of your essays. It was crazy that there were so many non-factors and no-shows in the opening round. Hopefully this round will have everyone still in contributing a quality read.

M.M. and B.S.F.
Both of the essays were good reads and demonstrate what a real fan should be. With that, I have to give the nod to B.S.F. on this one, mainly because, Oral Roberts comes out of a smaller conference and needs a little more to get to the big dance. (It is worth noting, that only 5 of the 32 "at-large" bids were awarded to small schools. I think it is about time this changed.)

MainManx, your essay is great. It really describes the way your Spartans play, and what is essential for them to continue in the tourney. You have my vote.

Thanks thomassova4 for you vote.I can use all of the support right now.Looks like I'm getting beat right now.I agree with you that they should give more at-large bids to smaller schools.Like had ORU lost in the Summit League Championship game they would not have been in the Ncaa tournament.I think that both teams in the championship game should get at-large bids.

MainManx, your essay was better than Bigsportsfan's by leaps and bounds in my opinion. You stuck to the topic question by stating what it was that lead your team to the tournament, where as Bigsportsfan seemed to just state what his team accomplished this year. He just didn't quite fulfill the topic question in my opinion. Although MainManx, you only posted 98 words in your essay so I don't know exactly but you might get a deduction in points. Regardless, you warranted enough of my interest to have me vote for you, and I hope you do well throughout the tourney.
Also, I would greatly appreciate it you could check out my friend, Dapillcaper's, essay and then possibly vote for him.

Good essays guys. I think MSU will win, but I like the pride of Bigsportsfan. This may be a hard one to decide.
Please check out PSU vs UNLV. I got a bit of a late start and we need some votes. My opponent says heart is UNLV's best quality, but that's not really a measurable quality, ya know? I mean, doesn't everyone have heart at this level? I think it takes more than heart to get this far. Maybe writing essays it only takes heart, along with passion and good writing skills, but as far as teams are concerned, the talent and execution have to be there.
Anyways, here's our link to see what you think: http://www.sportsline.com/mcc/messages/chrono/7253207/0/1 /7278327#ID7278327
