Yes the San Antonio Spurs are boring we all know that but those same boring teams have found away to win 4 titles since 99 and I'll take boring and championships over flashy behind the back passes or 140 point nights anyday.

The Suns, Warriors and Nuggets are all exciting teams to watch and have been for the last couple of years and while they run up and down the court a lot and make a lot of fans go ooh and ahh, at the end of the year they're always watching teams like the Spurs and Pistons raise trophies over their heads. So while the run and gun style may put people in the seats, the half court grind and hard nosed defensive of teams like the Spurs put banners in the top of the arena.

So while the Spurs may be boring and even old, I'd still take them in a 7 game series over just about every team in the league because they might not be stylish but they are winners and that's just a bit more important.

Maybe Spurs/Pistons finals are why ratings are in the toilet.
Maybe the league would be more relevant and popular if they did something to minimize those 84 to 79 scores between boring, old, grind-it-out half court teams that keep winning titles while losing viewership.

I have to poke my eyes out every time I see a Spurs game on the TV.  No one wants to watch a point guard dribble for 18 seconds on each possession.  There's good reason the Warriors have made the game exciting to watch again.

The reason the Spurs and Pistons win can be be summed up in one word -- FUNDAMENTALS. Making the simple play and paying attention to detail when it matters -- this may be "boring" but it separates winners from champions. The culture of style over substance is why so many things are wrong with American basketball, and why we get our butts kicked at international competition. To paraphrase "White Men Can't Jump", NBA teams "would rather look good and lose than play ugly and win."

The reason the boring team and the Pistons win is because of the Lack of Fundamentals on the offensive side of the ball. Players in the NBA don't shoot like they used to. Boring teams like the Spurs and the Pistons do the cheesy eat up the shot clock thing when they have the ball. When they don't have the ball they do play good D buy this era is coming to an end. There are some good young shooters in the league now and with the European players shooting will only get better. It's funny how you just mention the Spurs and the Pistons but left out Los Lakers when you talk about winning teams. The Lakers made 4 Finals appearances in 5 years. The Lakers won 3 straight. The boring team and the Pistons never have been able to manage a repeat. When the Lakers won their titles they were not boring. They had one of the best 1-2 punches in NBA history. They also could D up at the end of the game and had some great clutch shooting . Admit they were fun to watch and really had more impressive results than the boring team and the Detroit Pistons.

I wish the Warriors and Nuggets were in different conferences and met up in the finals. I would tune in to watch that for sure. Baron Davis vs. Allen Iverson, Stephen Jackson vs. Carmelo Anthony.. heck yes!

apparently people who watch the spurs have totally ignored tony parker and manu ginobili. when they arent too busy flopping, they are two of the most exciting players in the league.

i read an article recently that proclaimed ginobili as the most fun player to watch in the league.

oh no, the spurs play good defense! what a shame.
the nba is total garbage. i give props to the spurs, one of the few teams who actually play good basketball.

ratings are down because the nba provides a terrible game. the league is trying to make it entertainment instead of sport, thus the reason lebron can easily drive to the basket every play untouched, and still draw a foul. people need to get over their obsession with the dunk, and start calling for team ball again, and hey, maybe team USA will start winning again!

btw, im young, i love watch high scoring games as well and appreciate watching athleticism, so dont discard me as some old school, old man whos still livin in the 80s.

First team to 100 shots (or gunshots, or hits of whatever) wins in a Warriors-Nuggets game.
