being an Eagles fan, i hope to heck that miami FS kenny phillips falls to the eagles at 19, but i cant see him gettin out of the top 15 for some reason. the eagles have never been afraid to trade up to grab a guy they like. example (traded up to number 15 in 2003 to get Jerome McDougle (not exactly a great move) but still had the guts to trade up to number 16 in 2004 and landed Shawn Andrews) Robert Gallery was taken number 2 overall that year by oakland and andrews is arguably the best OL drafted by ANY team since 2004.... easily the best run-blocking guard to come out of college in the last 20 yrs, look it up... i know the eagles love taking lineman early and thomas and runyan are getting up in age, but runyan had arguably one of his best seasons last year and with Max Jean-Gilles waiting in the wings at guard, andrews has more than enough ability to slide to takle. Winston Justice got exposed for what he is last year, garbage. and todd herramans has to go but they have depth and youth along both lines from the previous FIVE drafts and i know for a fact that they would have taken brandon merriweather last year had the pats not stole him 2 picks earlier (maybe they had cameras in the eagle's war room too) they might have even taken Jon Beason but he went to carolina next bascially forcing them to trade down, the only problem was they should have taken Eric Weddle with that 1st second rnd pick because kolb probably wouldve still been on the board their next time up. ANYWAY GETTING TO THE POINT, im not gonna complain about a team's drafting habits when they went 26. Lito Sheppard 58. Michael Lewis 59. Sheldon Brown and 91. Brian Westbrook ALL in 2002 (also took Raheem Brock with like 238 in the 7th rnd that year but cudnt sign him and he went on to be a pretty decent DL in Indy) the bottom line is that Brian Dawkins is 34, i love him to death and think he deserves a spot in canton, but he just doesn't have it anymore, i hate saying it but its the truth. the eagles need a safety BAD. quentin mikell played well at SS last year before getting hurt, but your looking at a defensive backfield with Asante Samuel, lito sheppard, and sheldon brown. with brown's stregth and tackling ability he might not be a bad fit a SS, and with sheppard's speed and ball-skills he might not be a bad fit to play some situational FS. they eagles game plan to get a big lead early by throwing and stocking DE's and DB's and making teams have to pass to get back in the game. i think kenny phillips may just be the next miami safety to fit the Ed Reed/sean taylor mode, you stick him back there with those corners and let him learn from one of the best FS's in NFL history....WOW....that could be a scary secondary for eli, Todd Collins, and tony blow-mo whoops i meant romo......

Phillips would be a great pick for your Eagles, and I don't think it is out of the question for him to drop to 19. I've seen a lot of mocks that have him dropping all the way to the Giants at 31. I think 31 is unrealistic, but he could very well be there for you at 19.

Dawkins certainly is nearing the end, and that safety position is very important; especially in that aggressive defense Philly runs.

you're right on. ive seen him not even landing in the first round on some mocks and ive seen others that have him going in the top 10! that just goes to show how much these "experts" really know lol. The one thing i do know is that i watch the hurricanes play about 4 or 5 times this year and by the 3rd game, he was the only guy i was watching when the defense was on the field. He was everywhere, i've heard some people say its the defense they run, that the FS doesn't have to make any calls or reads, that he's allowed to just rome around and react like a "joker" but theyre all myths, miami runs an NFL style defense, and i heard the same things when Ed Reed and sean taylor were drafted....."oh, they're just athletes playing in the right system." so i dont even look at the mocks anymore, they're a waste of time. the kid is a player and he gonna be good. most likely REAL good.

As a Dallas fan I hope Philly does go DB instead of WR in rd 1. They are never going anywhere with their current WRs IMO.

well as a dallas fan, u shud know that we defiantley dont need any more WR's to beat you... look up mcnabb's stats vs the Cowboys for the last 4-5 plus years and see for yourself. he even made freddie mitchell look good in dallas a few yrs ago, and his numbers have been exceptionally better since TO arrived in big D.... all we need to do is line up Brian Westbrook, or basically get anyone with any type of speed matched up 1 on 1 with Roy Williams, maybe go play action, and then sit back and watch williams' inability in deep coverage. the only thing he is good for is horse-collaring everybody and making some nice hits here and there, get him into coverage and his slow feet and lack of ball-skills make him such a liability in man on man or getting over the top. to me, he's an undersized linebacker who could probably have a bit more sucess in a cover 2 scheme where he can play 20 yds off the ball and pray nobody gets behind him.

Maybe you should have looked up the stats yourself before your garbage loudmouth philly self spoke. http://www.nfl.com/players/donovanmcnabb/gamelogs?id=MCN017517&season=2007, then click on the other years.  Let's see, in 2004 he had a 345 yrd 4td game, but he was throwing to a spare receiver who had 134yrds and 3 of those tds, maybe you know him, TO?  Then his only other 300yrd game was in 06, due to an 87yrd pass to Baskett, which we can thank Watkins for allowing.  In 8 games, he's had 13 td's.  Not very dominating in my opinion.  Look at Romo's stats (or whatever cute name you choose to call him, you clever philly fans always come up with something that is as intellectually stimulating as my shoe).  When has McNabb ever even sniffed 36 td's?  Hmm, 2004, when he had TO, still he only threw 31 td's, the only time he's ever broken 30.  That's okay though, draft another defensive player, leave the WR to us.  We will still abuse your team and hurt them physically when we play.  Oh, and when we hurt McNabb again, we'll be cheering like your classy selves when Michael Irvin ended his career in the town of "brotherly love".  Must be an incestual reference.

But I do agree with your analysis of Roy.  He is a huge liability physically.
