The ACC did so-so versus the SEC

Thu 11/15/07 - Clemson 84 Mississippi State 82

Fri 11/23/07 - Florida State 65 Florida 51

Wed 01/09/08 - Georgia Tech 72 Georgia 79
Sun 03/23/08 - North Carolina 108 Arkansas 77

Verdict: Avoid the Horizon League and Big 12.

HURRICANES OFFENSIVE SCORING EFFICIENCY

The Canes scored 1.05 points per offensive play.
To compare, the Tarheels scored 1.15 points per offensive play.

Verdict: The Canes ranked fourth in offensive points per play. Minimal improvement needed.

HURRICANES DEFENSIVE SCORING EFFICIENCY

Defensively, the canes yield 1.051 points per defensive play.
To compare, the Tar Heels yield .968 points per defensive play.

Verdict: Clamp down more on defense to win close games. .968 is too much in the ACC to be in the elite. The offensive efficiency is where it should be. The defense needs to catch up, as they are 6th in the ACC in points per defensive play. Improvement on this will be a huge factor in putting them among the elite.

HURRICANES BALL CONTROL

The Hurricanes average 13.5 turnovers per game, which is low compared to most of the ACC.(North Carolina averages 14.8)

The Hurricanes assist to turnover ratio is 0.852- towards the bottom of the pack. This is due to the hurricanes only averaging 11.6 assists per game.

Verdict: Many of the Hurricanes turnovers come of bad passes. Reduce bad passes and therefore reduce turnovers. Mainly the Hurricanes need to make smarter decisions on offense.

All in all, the Hurricanes main areas of improvement are ball movement(better passing), and closing down on shooters more on defense.
