The headline of this article makes it sound like we didn't deserve the win. It makes it sound like we couldn't win the game had it not been for the dead ball starts. But if we had such strong time of possession throughout the game (read the line about the Polish substitutions), and Poland could not find gaps in our defense (last few lines of the story), then maybe our overall play should be lauded. Yes, it's great that we won, and that apparently we are playing better off the dead ball starts, but if we dominated Poland the way the article discusses, then allow the reader to infer that from the headline.

I am just excited about the progress that the US is making.  The more we improve the more we will take hits from other countries writers. Go RED,White and blue.

I wouldn't sweat it, bnussdorf.  Three-nil is three-nil - nobody can argue this was a fluky win.

And baseball is really exciting? every sport has its finer qualities, just because you cant appreciate soccer doesnt mean anything.

Bnussdorf, the headline is definitely weak, but fortunately the article corrects any misperceptions. I'm extremely pleased with the US team's performance because a lot of the load is being carried by a new wave of younger players such as Adu and Altidore (and don't forget we've finally passed the keeper torch to Howard).

As for the soccer-is-boring vs. baseball-is-boring, c'mon, folks, ANY sport can be boring if badly played (OK, maybe except Monty Python arena football ).

I've played both (plus a bunch of others), and I enjoy both on their own merits.

Three-nil is three-nil no matter how you put it.  And if we dominated possession in the process, that's certainly nothing to complain about.  Our defense has been good of late, which is a good foundation to build on.  I'm also excited about all our young players.  Adu has been impressive, especially since I don't think he's even getting much first-team action right now at... Besikitas I think?  Anyway, props to the lads.  Poland's not exactly a power, but they're not bad either.

The polish head coach talked about worrying about playing Germany....I guess they should have worried about playing the U.S. team first....Looking forward to see the U.S. team upset England.....

Taking advantage of deadballs is what a good team does. Beating a solid team, 3 - nil, is what a good team does. A good team does not have to explain its 3-goal victories.

If it means we are now respected enough that people want us to start winning "beautifully" as opposed to just "admirably" -- I would gladly like to start defending that position.

BTW, I love the retards who cannot get over their soccerphobic, room temperature IQ enough to keep from posting their 4th grade level drivel. I bet all the guys down at the Jiffylube breakroom get a charge out of their hilarious comments.

Absolutely wonderful game by the USA.  Strong on the ball the whole match.  Nice 1-2 passing with teammates,  wonderful off the ball runs, and timely set piece scoring.  A good combination.  Not to mention Tim Howard made a few key saves to keep the score line on the side of the US.  A nice win over a formidable Poland squad going to the Euros.

I think Bradley has this team going in the right direction, and I hope he finds a permanent spot on the field for Donovan as opposed to moving him from Forward to midfield and vice versa.  Once Adu and Altidore are permanent fixtures on this team, the sky is the limit.

The players playing permanentley in europe really seem to be paying off with Boca and Dempsey looking really good out there.  I think this team is on the right track.

Great win for the US.  I was really impressed with the Euro based American players and how well their skill level has matured.  If only more of them stayed home to help raise the level of the up and coming MLS.  Then again, would their skill level be what it is now?  I guess it's like a catch 22 situation.

Any time you can take the boys overseas...check that, anywhere out of the US and can win, it's a good thing!  Especially in Eurpoe!

P.S. Nice new Jerseys!!!

The USMNT never gets the credit they deserve for their wins and ample doses of criticism for draws and losses.  Most people in America do not understand the game and do not want to understand it.  There has been progress over the years, but with the big 3 sports, NFL, MLB and NBA getting the majority of the publicity, soccer will always get treated like a second class sport.

I enjoy any positive news on the USMNT and give them tons of support.  I am excited over the new younger players that are being brought into the mix.  I am the same age as many of the players that really got the USMNT started and recognized.  I am excited to see progress continuing.
