So its okay to use Jesus's name with explicits, he is the guy that "white" people follow.

But if anyone dared use Mohammad, or Ghandi's name with explicits so loosely, it would be all over the news and people would be calling for this guys credentials to be removed.

Insensitivity doesnt stop with the minorities or other religions, and it should extend across the board.

Shameful how loosely this word is allowed to be used.

I sort of agree with you, but tell me; what religion is based on the life of Ghandi?

Like I told our neighbor's 5 year old kid yesterday when she told my 5 year old that the Easter Bunny wasn't real..........neither is Jesus Christ.  So anyone that has to comment on why things are ok to say this way but not that way and why blacks are minorities and why a woman can't be president need a reality check......there is no light at the end of your tunnel.  You keep believing it's okay to sin as long as you spend countless hours of your life asking for forgiveness and sending your cash to the man above.........

PS-I drafted Patterson with my last pick just in case he is a late bloomer....

Not to get in a pissing match but:

-Blacks are minorities because they don't make up 50%+1 of the population.

-A women can be President, however lets see how well she would deal with Muslim radicals who look down on women.  Not a good position of power, and not a place I want the United States of America negotiating from.

-History makes clear that Jesus Christ did indeed exist.  Which means that unless you went out and bought a bunny on Easter, he was more real than your Easter Bunny.

Good luck with the Patterson pick.  He sucked in Chicago...

Hey, Jesus was real and He IS the son of God.  You dont have to like it, but I dont insult your beliefs system (or non belief system) so I think the name of Jesus should be left out of  insults.  If I were to say Allah dammit, or Muhammed SUX, then everyone would be ticked that I insulted another religion.  If my religion is wrong in your eyes, sorry, but my religion should not be treated with less respect than others just because it is politically incorrect.

U politically correct ass.  Why would you be offended over something so inconsequential?  This is America.  Do you really think the writer was denigrating Jesus?  It's a freakin expression.  Get over yourself.  I hate people like you.  You and the lawyers have and are ruining this country.  Take things in context.  If you don't like them or agree with them then voice your opinion but don't  try to censor us because you have such thin skin.  Wussy

I agree with the original post and I think NeFan said it nicely. Jesus Christ was alive 2000 odd years ago and is just as much alive today (remember what was celebrated/mourned last weekend? Something about a resurrection... meaning He's not really dead) Even if you don't believe, you probably still celebrated Easter, a Christian holiday.
I realize this is a forum and people can state what ever they feel like however if you're going to degrade or bash someones religion or belief system, at least make the convictions accurate and leave out the immature explicits.

I have a bigger problem with the hypocricy at CBS. Half of these posts are going to get yanked because CBS has a filtering system that pulls every uncomfortable word automatically.

Yet on more than one occasion I've seen their writers cross the fairly conservative boundary set by the network.

Let's have the same standards for everyone - and I'm all for wide-open, let 'er rip language.  I'm a big boy. I can handle it.

Here's another way to look at it:

I actually think the higher standard should be applied to paid writers like Mr. Dobrow. I think they should be professional enough and creative enough to not rely on word choices that some, many in fact, will find blasphemous. I think there are more creative ways to describe a disruptive locker room presence than "pain in the" arse. Where's the editor here? I know writers want their personal style intact but someone needed to look at that copy before it was posted and say "find another way."

I don't think writing styles like this should be banned (so relax, Marino dude), I just think they're weak, lazy and there are writers out there would could make an equally good point without stooping to this.

Excellent job calling Dobrow on this, Irish. Probably a shout in the wilderness, but appreciated just the same.

*Any Religious sensitivity kills. No religious icon deserves respect unless they earn it. And any religious person threatened by insensitive words is following a false, weak God anyway.
*Mohammed and Ghandi do not mean a lot to most Americans. Jesus Christ does. Therefore, no one references individuals that have no cultural connection to the audience. That explains the difference. I love how Christians always see themselves as being persecuted in America when they are 85 to 90 per cent of the US population.
*But everyone should fear any religious based censors. Like the Spanish Inquisition, religious litmus tests kill.
*and race has nothing to do with it. The fact you even mentioned it in your post speaks volumes about your values.

Walja, I think Christians just tire of getting rapped in the snout with a newspaper for standing up for their beliefs, while more radical faiths are restricting the freedom of an entire gender by force or plotting the next act of mass murder. And before you start, I realize Christiantiy isn't without its atrocities.

If we're going to fly off the handle about a cartoon drawing of one God, then let's maybe call a sport writer out for unnesessarily dropping the J.C. bomb in one of his cheezy columns. This isn't one of the great writers of our time trying to bring about social change. Just a lame hack who thought his attempt an irreverent style would get him some attention. He needed to do better. Religions aside, we can agree on that, right?
