Get this guy out of the league. He was crooked going back to high school. He started a relationship with bookies in high school, went to college at UM for money with the rest of the Fab Five and had all the records from his UM years erased from the books because they were all paid from that Michigan athletic program (and UM fans have the nerve to talk about Maurice Clarett at Ohio State!), never took a team anywhere as a pro because he always tanked it in the playoffs. He probably still was tied up with the gamblers during his whole career in the NBA. That would explain a lot.
Think about his most famous moment -- NCAA championship, Michigan losing, Carolina at the line. CWebb rebounds the missed free throw and the first thing he does is TRAVEL (it wasn't called). Then, does he give it up to a teammate? No, he dribbles the length of the floor with time running out. Does he pass the ball to a teammate when he gets past halfcourt? No, he calls a timeout that Michigan doesn't have, turning the ball over to Carolina and giving the Heels free throws as a result of the technical foul. Tell me he didn't have money on that game, or that he wasn't responsible for insuring UM lost that game. Continued his act to the pros, where he was always a malcontent, always disappeared in the playoffs when the team needed him. Oh well, he probably made out pretty well with his millions in salary and additional money betting on his teams to lose, which they always did!

Don't see the point of your whining. There is more corruption, gambling and crap in the NBA than Webber has in his closet. If I was Webber having to go up against a Lakers team that was cheated for I would bet against my own team too especially when you have referees like Tim Donaghy, David Stern as your commissioner, and Michael Jordan's gambling self as the icons of the NBA.

What an unbelievably biased post. Yes, Webber had his blonde moments in college and EARLY in the pros. But after that he put his life together and became one of the best power forwards in the HISTORY of the NBA. If you wish to contest that, consider that only SIX players in the history of the NBA have averaged over twenty points, nine rebounds and 3.5 assists per game (as reported today on ESPN to provide a source), four of those players are in the hall of fame, the fifth is Kevin Garnett, a hall of fame lock, and the sixth is Chris Webber. He may not have won an NBA championship but at his peak he got the Sacramento franchise much farther than it ever had or has been. And contrary to your ill informed post, he DID take teams far in the playoffs but had the misfortune of peaking at the same time as Shaquille and the Lakers.
The transparency of your hatred for Michigan as an obvious buckeye fan renders your post silly. You accuse Webber of throwing the game AND betting on NBA games, something utterly ridiculous and offensive and you had damn well better produce some proof before you are going to throw that out there. He called a stupid timeout because he was nervous and emotional. For those of us who have met Webber and dont just talk about him like we know him, we understand that he is a big, sensitive guy who wears his heart on his sleeve and would do anything for his teammates, but like other athletes who were pampered from an early age he had to learn to deal with his sometimes stupid and selfish behavior. The thing is, he DID learn from it. Otherwise Don Nelson, his one-time biggest detractor, would not have had him back with Golden State albeit at the end of his career. It just showed he had come full circle, unlike your Maurice Clarett who I believe is (sadly) still in jail.
I will give you one thing, though. Michigan fans have no business talking smack about the Ohio State program. For the record, THE Ohio State University (threw that "THE" in there for all of you buckeye fans, love you guys, our rivalry is one of the most beautiful things in sports and we would be nowehere without each other--plus I will alwyas give you props for the outpouring of support and real feelings after Bo's death, true class unlike anything the SEC has--Big Ten haters be damned) does have the highest Athletic Department budget of any college in the nation, as it is the nation's biggest university. So of course it is going to have some corruption in its programs as programs at universities around the country are rife with it. As Michigan's basketball and baseball programs are examples. But dont you go being a hypocrite by pointing the finger in Michigan's direction while you know no college's programs are perfect--not even yours.
Get off the bias bandwagon. Ewing didnt win a championship and was often decried for dirty play but he is in the hall of fame. Larry Bird is widely acknowledged as one of the dirtiest players on the court during his time. Judge Webber for what he did ON the court in his NBA--not college--career, 15 years in which he was one of the most prolific power forwards and most polished passers amongst big men. Webber grew up. Maybe you should too.

Only five othe players in the History of the NBA has averaged 20-10-4 and they are in the Hall of Fame. Also he was one of the most dominating PF of his generation. When he was healthy he was a beast. He was able to run the court, pass like a gaurd and amaze you in every which way.
Will he be a first ballot probally not but a 20/10/4 guy has the numbers to be considered one of the best PF of all times, so one day the he should be in the Hall of Fame.

You're going to compare C-Webb to Maurice Clarett??? You have to be one of the biggest morons I've ever seen on these boards, congratulations.

The 2002 OSU team is the dirtiest NCAA "champion" since the 1950s. We're not just talking about a few violations. The whole athletic department is rotten to the core! Cars, hookers, drugs, guns, bookies, ineligible players, bribing refs. What are they NOT guilty of?
Every single one of them deserves to go to the electric chair! LOL!

Still haven't seen a single post denying anything I said. Webber was convicted of perjury and obstructing justice. He has a long history of cheating and being involved with bookies. That's a fact. Where do you see anywhere that my posts are based on my status as an Ohio State fan? Did I say that at any time? How would you know if I was a Buckeyes fan or not? Face facts. The guy is crooked and has been for a long time. He put up numbers during the regular season when it didn't mean anything and when it mattered he always went into the tank. Every time. The fact that the posts deflect attention away from CWebb by referring to Clarett or saying that "everybody's dirty" doesn't change the truth about this guy. If anything, I have proven the "holier than thou" attitude of UM fan and the university itself. This is the school that fired Gary Moeller for one bad night out to dinner with his wife, but kept Steve Fisher on the job after his blatant cheating. UM is a joke.

Wait a minute... Larry Bird widely acknowledged as one of the dirtiest players on the court during the time he played? I guess if you consider winning multiple MVPs and championships dirty, then you would be right. By the way, how many MVPs and championships did CWebb win? Do y | |
