I kinda agree with you but on the other hand what's really sad is the fact that Shaq all of a sudden is in "good" shape and wants to play again... This isn't the 1st time that we have seen this from Shaq.  How bout we rename him "The Big Put On" or "The Big I Don't Want to Play unless I'm winning" I mean I love the guy but let's be serious... Shaq is a former shell of himself and at this point he seems to be "The Big Selfish"!!

GO Lakers!

whoever made this post shaq started it this first when he made comments about the Heat team to the boston globe then riley replied so get your facts straight before u post things...Moecheeze I agree with u I find it amazing how all of sudden hes in great shape.Have u noticed how much rebounds shaq be grabbing now nearly 10 a night but when he was with most games he had between 2-6 rebounds,Also have u noticed how all of sudden he could hit his free throws. Now I really hope Phx dont win the title.

Very good point.  He's not coaching the team.  Can't say that I like to hear Shaq talk like that though....

The coach needs to provide a winning atmosphere...and I'm sorry, but I'm 35, and in those circumstances...I would be less than interested in hustling my tail off with nothing at stake.

Shaq came to Miami knowing full well he wouldn't have to carry that team.  Then all of the sudden he has to carry the team...and the coach ends up giving up...

How many other coaches do you see scouting the NCAA tourney during games?  I don't care what his role is with the team, you don't see Isiah Thomas doing that.

This was easily one of Pat Riley's worst coaching jobs, and Shaq knew it.  He just took the wrong approach to it, I think.

Why hasn't more been said on this site about what Shaqtus said about his former team.  All U so-called Shaq lovers have been defending hime over Kobe for years...

He quit on the Heat plain and simple--but did that really come out in the media, nope.  Since they're the ones who show him all the love and pump is big head up.  His latest comments only prove what an Azz he really is.  The same thing he said about loving to play with his new Sun's teammates, is the same bull he said when he first join forces with Wade.  But what did he do?  he cut and ran on the Heat.  While everyone sits back and praises him on how well he's playing for the Suns..

He's a disgrace to basketball for all I care.  He did help my Lakers win 3-rings, but tonight he showed his true colors...

Shaq didnt have to carry the Heat thats Wade job...Shaq average around 10 points in the finals i dont call that carrying a team.PRW37 I agree with u hes a disgrace to basketball he did quit on the heat thats emnbarassing.Y cant shaq ever leave a team and keep his mouth shut? Be happy u getting a chance to win ur 5th ring u could have still been here on a 13-58 team. Now I really wish riley traded him to a team who was not a contender.

Riley and Shaq might just mirror each other.  Neither one of them sticks it out through the tough times.

This year the Heat are a disgrace and Riley never righted the ship that got off to a poor start in the absence of Dwayne Wade early in the year.  Once Wade came back Riley never instilled any sort of toughness in the team that he lost when Mourning went out.  Coach failed to coach and these last few months have been a disgrace as Miami appears to be tanking games on purpose to improve their draft position.  The people of Miami that go to the games have the right to see guys like Shawn Marion play every night.  Wade might be hurt but I do not buy for a minute that Shawn Marion cannot go every night.  Marion has been an iron man in the NBA since he came into the league and all of a sudden he has missed more games in Miami than he did in eight and a half years with Phoenix.

By the way who is coaching the Heat?  Will Riley step down and once a new coach can clean up Riley's mess will Pat return to the bench as head coach?

I used to get a kick out of how Riley used to try to get into a battle of words with Phil Jackson when Jackson's Bulls started winning championships and running through Riley's Knicks every year en route to lifting the O'Brien trophy.   I think Riley spouted off more then a few times that Jackson could not win without Jordan but Slick Pat forgot to mention how he could not win without Kareem, Magic, and Worthy.  Players win championships while great coaches understand how to direct them toward the goal.

I can't say I like Shaq making his comments about his former teammates but Shaq is known for telling people what he thinks. Pat Riley has given up and should stick to one role with the team - either coach or in the executive office. If he is going to scout the NCAA tourney he should resign as coach bottom line.
