Good for WVU.  As a UConn fan, I definitely would like to see these guys continue their success.  Michigan University did this school wrong, and they deserve everything they are getting.  What did the Wolverine's (in a lesser than Big East conference) do this year?

I wonder what Cincinnati fans are thinking this weekend. Everyone was so eager to dump Huggins after the DUI and now its Xavier (from Cincinnati) playing W.V.U. in the tourney while Cincinnati's basketball program is settling into its pre-Huggins second-tier role.

Thanks for the props UConn fan. It takes this type of attitude to win championships. You have to dictate the game and have the attitude that we are the best team on the floor.  I'm not sure if WVU has the arsenal to make it all the way this year but wow what a transformation this year.

OU Tooo,

I don't know if I can blame Cinci for cutting Huggins loose when they did.  The President of the University wanted to change the program's image and the DUI happened shortly after he made his plans known.  I think he had to cut him loose to prove he was serious.

That being said.  Huggins is a good coach and deserved another chance.  I hope he succeeds at WVU and proves that he can run a tight ship without any off court issues.

Huggins should be ashamed of himself with his one and done at KState, and the chambles he left in Cinncy..  Retire.

What are Cincinnati fans thinking?    I can't speak for everyone but I think most are saying "Go Mountaineers"!    We also think new Coach Cronin is doing a great job so look for us back in the big dance within 2 years, maybe 1!

Huggins can flat out coach.  I love seeing him do well and I always felt his teams in Cincinnati suffered for their character flaws.  Hopefully Huggins learned something about mentoring and how to bring young men along.   It will help on the court, ultimately.

Ironically, perhaps, as in Cincinnati, XU may once again be his nemesis.

Huggins should be ashamed of himself with his one and done at KState, and the chambles he left in Cinncy..  RetireWhat a load of crap.    Get over it.  He did now leave Cincy in shambles -- your AD and president did by kicking him out after he had been loyal to the school for 16 years --  previously even turning down his dream job to return to his home in WVU.   As to K State, he got them on track.  HE had every right to return home.  The jobs don't open up often -- there is no chance to say "well, come back in a few years cause I can't leave now."   The timing may have sucked but that's not his fault.   Thank Michigan for taking WVU's coach then if you want to get on the "he left my school crap."  Every school has to have a coach in place.  If an offer is deemed better than the job they currently have they take it.   I suppose you would turn down a great opportunity, more money, and whatever other factors, including family might be involved just to stay at a place you had been for one year -- out of a sense of loyalty.  Especially when YOUR last experience at loyalty bit YOU in the arse.   Sure you would ---

Great article by Dodd.

But Huggins is still a drunk driving thug and WVU fans are rednecks.

Is WVU better off with Huggins?  I think so.

Don't get me wrong, I loved Coach Beilein.  I loved his teams and the way they played basketball.  I would have been very happy had he stayed at WVU until his retirement from coaching.  He could have become a legacy at WVU.  I really believe that.  He was just building something there, just look at the athletes on this year's team to see what I mean.

But Coach Huggins is a WV guy.  He was born in WV, graduated from WVU, and he wants to retire from coaching as the WVU basketball coach.  He's not going to go anywhere, and that is a very comfortable feeling.  The guy can flat out coach.  The guy can flat out recruit.  He will take WVU to the next level and sustain its greatness.  I am very impressed with the job he has done this year transforming Beilein's boys into a Huggins-style team.

He doesn't have all the pieces yet, but to take this team to the Sweet 16 is more than I expected.  I am hoping that it is less than he expected.  I hope I can watch my team play a few more games.

WVU fans are not rednecks.  We are toothless, inbred hillbillies.  WV doesn't have a redneck in its hills.  But, you'll find plenty of hillbillies.

The day the news broke that Beilein was leaving I was beyond mad.  However, when I found out that WV was going to hire Huggins I really didn't care.  He has done a great job adjusting his system to include some of the things we had been doing so well here before he came.  He made some mistakes, but  he paid for those and we have a great coach!

Huggins is an excellent coach. My team has played against him many times and I have tremendous respect for his coaching abilities. This is the first year that I have watched WV and I am impressed with the team. I am glad to see them getting respect.

I love seeing Huggins and WV doing well, for all the heat the big east takes for being overrated it's great to see our lower ranked teams moving on and winning.

Huggins has changed the character of the team and it is working out very very well.

Good luck WV

As a Big East Fan I will be pulling for west Virginia, not to mention I had them beating Duke then beating xavier.  I enjoy watching Mazzulla do well, I got to see him several times in High School.  What a gutsy performance against Duke. What really upsets me about Mazzulla is that moron Welch who coached Providence never even recruited Mazzulla.  Mazzulla's father is a Providence season ticket holder and his cousin went to Providence.  Why can't the Fraiars get players like that.
