Can't agree with you more, Becksmeagol. Nice to see the comaradarie among Big East teams -- I cheer for UConn whenever they play outside the conference. Although it wasn't Michigan that did WVU dirty; It was the classless manner of Rodriquez's departure that was dirty. And Huggy is demonstrating that you can stay in Morgantown and still make a big-time program.

Who is this "sportsfan5000" jerkoff anyway? As a WVU alumni, i can guarantee that not all at WVU are trashy as you seem to think. What ever came out of Maryland except a bunch of idiotic thugs? Oh and the great Neil O'donnell (i will never forget that loser, being a Steeler fan).
When a new coach takes over with a total different philosophy than his predecessor (like Huggins to Belein) it usually takes a few years for the new coach to get the team back on track. Huggins and his "trashy WVU" players have not only gotten better as individuals (Alexander basically learned a new position, Butler better rebounder, Ruoff a better shooter, etc. etc. etc.), but they are a team playing their best ball at the right time and have a great shot at advancing further. Don't sit there and bad mouth a school and team that you absolutely know nothing about just because your team (whoever it is this week) isn't even in the tournament. Our Mountaineers are busy making our university proud of both our football AND basketball teams and making them championship contenders EVERY YEAR!
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO MOUNTIANEERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sportsfan500 is your typical highly eccetric sports fan who knows little, but is offended by players who are confidant and will take nothing from players like Paulis and his Duke Blue blood buddies. Of course Coack K is a great coach, but he has no more class than anybody else in college basketball. I have seen his players play dirty all of the time, I have seen them trash talk with the best of them, and I have seen Paulis pounding the court and beating his chest all of the time, saying nothing more than "hey, I just dissed you, look at me, I am a stud".
Just because he plays for a class coach (by image anyhow) does not mean that this class coach is not telling him to pound it to somebody every chance he gets.
Huggins is as much a classy coach as anybody, and even your revered Coach K has said as much.
What are you, a 12 year old trying to play hob knob with intelligent basketball fans.
If you take the time to disrespect WVU players and fans, you are simply the classless pretender you portend others to be!

Hiho. Kinda figured I'd have to clarify my "big ten powers are Michigan State, Illinois, Wisconsin" statement. I was talking about the last five to ten years. MSU and UW have dominated over that time span, making the NCAA's every year. Illinois was a monster during the middle of this decade, but they're at a crossroads now: Bruce Pearl has to prove that he can win with his own players. Ohio State and Purdue are in great shape now, but they've also seen some rough spots in the last few years.
Indiana doesn't belong on the list. They just haven't lived up to their national rep. They went to the NCAA championship game around 2000, I think, but they've rarely made the Tournament since then, and they're almost never in the Big Ten championship mix come late February. The Hoosiers have been fading for years, some of their fans know it and are getting desperate. But their athletic administration is thick as a plank. I, of course, think this is terrific!
Michigan really, REALLY doesn't belong on the list. Hey, C-Webb and the fab five have retired from the NBA, or should have, and the booster that bribed them is dead. They've been hobbled for years. I couldn't tell you the last time they made the NCAA's, but I'd guess some time in the '90's. Bielein had little to build on when he showed up at Ann Arbor, so expecting instant success is foolish. But one day the sanctions will end and the state of Michigan produces lots of top Basketball talent. I don't like it much, but the Wolverines will be back.
Go WVU. Sorry to poison this thread with B10 talk.
Ps. If you think that other fan bases won't rip on the the Big East the instant it has a down year, then you're crazy. Trust me on this.

This SF5000 dude or lady as is probably the case, is simply looking to get a rise out of the mountaineer faithful. The truth is, as long as we allow idiots like this to make us feel we need to rebuke such nonsense, then we will continue to make ourselves look like inbred-hillbillies. Basketball is the case in point of this thread, and what started out as such a compelling thread in which to contribute my thoughts has been brought down to a school-yard level. Hope the 'eers whip Xavier, it won't be an easy task, cause they got a pretty good team! Try and focus on big picture!

And yet WVU got Huggins from where? He put in one year at Kansas State and bolted. WVU likes to blame Michigan but has no problem taking from other schools. You'll say "well that's different, he went to school at WVU". So what, stealing is stealing no matter where your from. Stop crying about Michigan. Move on.

I am tired of saying this but I will say it again.
The difference is the way in which each coach left. Do we harbor ill-will towards Beiline? Nope. He left in a classy way, as did Huggy Bear to come home to the Mountain State. Richy Rich left in the worst possible way. Dont try to compare the two. It was stated that when Huggy left he didnt even touch his other recruits from K-State. The same is not said for Rod whom after admonishing Trickett for doing that, he turned around and did the same.
Huggy also stated how difficult a decision it was, Rod has yet to address the fanbase in anyway other than to dismiss it.
