However, I think the body fat should be used as a more important measure by NFL teams. While such an extreme example as the one that you used is unlikely to occur, I still believe that this is one of the best measures for determining a prospect's strength and fitness. Unlike the bench press (and to some extent the 40) which can be improved specifically through endless training on that exercise without any significant impact on football performance, the body fat percentage is an indication of the general fitness of the player. And as the article says, it is a great determinant of muscle mass between players.
