If Matt Ryan is a franchise QB then how does he fall to #3? I'm not buying it. Please Falcons, take McFadden, Dorsey, Long, or Gholston, then get your QB with one of your possible 4 second round pick. And do not trade any of those 2nd round picks, with this draft being deep in talent.

He falls to 3 because Parcells isn't going for offense in his first draft he wants help on the D side of the ball. he builds teams through defense and focuses on O after he has his D set. St. Louis has Bulger for a few years to they shouldn't take him at 2 so there he is at 3 for Atlanta if they want him.

Stagecoach, I can't disagree with you more. Parcells took Bledsoe with a first overall pick. Parcells has the skins on the wall to know talent. His drafts with the Pats, Jets, and Cowboys were all execellent. As for Bulger, are you kidding? If he only has 1 or 2 years then what a perfect opportunity to select Ryan and have him sit on the bench, like Palmer.
If these two teams pass on him, especially Parcells, then that is a major red flag to me. Go get another stud, and get your QB in the 2nd.

agreed on Ryan, they have other needs that can be filled by safer choices. either Long would be a good fit and safe picks. since they appear to want to go the way of the Jags/Steelers on offense, they need at least 2 OL starters in the first 2 rounds so Jake Long is the pick if he's available.
I'm in the minority, but I think Redman can be a good caretaker type QB. he was well thought of coming out of college but had some injury issues. maybe another Tommy Maddox type career path. with that said, they need to get a qb if they think any of this year's group can become a higher end starter. Brohm/Henne/Flacco would all be solid choices in the 2nd round.

I don't think Matt Ryan falling to #3 should throw up red flags. The two teams above them have other priorities. The Dolphins already have John Beck, who they seem to think could be a franchise quarterback. You have to cut the guy a break last year as their O-Line wasn't all that good. The Fins might take another QB a little later for some competition, but unless they're drooling over Ryan, I don't think they take him. The Rams have a good quarterback in Marc Bulger, who I think will be around a while longer. As long as the Rams upgrade their O-Line and get it healthy again, Bulger should be quite comfortable and the Rams will have no need for a quarterback. That drops Ryan to the Falcons. Personally, I think he's a bit overrated, but he's a good player. I think the Falcons will be tempted to take someone else and pick up a QB in round 2. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ryan taken a lot lower than projected because of team needs and the deep draft.

I'm agreeing with the idea to pick up a quarterback in the second round and to pass on Matt Ryan. Once you get to the NFL most, if not all, can make a decent pass if they have time. Build up the offensive and defensive lines and you will not have to worry about getting a franchise quarterback; actually as said before in another post Redman may not be a bad situation (if you get a solid line). If you bolster up your line your offense will come around in due time. If you take Ryan you put him into a very difficult situation, something that I am not sold on him being able to perform through.

I think the Falcons should take Ryan. Just do not draft Dorsey!!!! Falcon fans Dorsey will be a bust let him fall to the Saints at #10.

I believe all these points are valid. I agree with stage because the Dolphins picked Beck in the second round last year. I think he needs another chance. The Rams just do not draft quarterbacks. The only quarterbacks to do anything since coming to St. Louis was Tony Banks and Ryan Fitzgerald. Trent Green (although didn't do anything for the Rams since he was hurt) and Kurt Warner was a free agents and Bulger was a Saints 6th Round pick traded to the Rams.
I think Matt Ryan will be a good quarterback, I don't think he's the best talent on the board for the Falcons. But who is going to quarterback the Falcons? They aren't make a lot of noise with their Redman and Harrington signings. Their could be some decent talent in the second round...draft Gholston or Dorsey.

If you made a list of franchise quarterbacks, or at least players whose team has committed to them as their franchise quarterback, it would show how dumb the statement that Matt Ryan falling to third means he’s not a franchise quarterback. Out of Tom Brady, Ben Rothlisberger, Tony Romo, Donovan McNabb, Philip Rivers, Vince Young, Eli Manning, Jay Cultler, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Carson Palmer and every other player who started and had over 200 pass attempts only THREE were selected above the third spot in the draft. Matt Ryan could be a bust or a franchise quarterback, however, where he is drafted doesn’t mean a thing. Plus 3 of the last six quarterbacks to win MVP were either not drafted or drafted later than the 6 th round.

The Falcons were mugs in free agency by not signing a decent QB (Quinn Gray would do a more than passable job for the season) or trading for one (Sage Rosenfels did really well behind a leaky Texans O-line, he could have done the same for the Falcs for a 2nd rounder). Then they could have taken McFadden in the draft and not had to dish out all that cash for Turner (although don't get me wrong, I think Turner will be a success - just not as much as D-Mac).
As it is they are almost committed to taking Ryan with the 3rd pick when in reality he is not top 10 material. Brady Quinn was by almost all accounts better than Ryan in all areas last year yet dropped to 22nd. If Ryan was in last years draft it would have been a toss-up between him and Beck for Miami's second round pick. Ryan is not a franchise QB, this year's QB class is really weak. The Falcons should do themselves a favour and draft someone else for the 3rd pick or even try to trade down because they need a lot more work than merely at QB. Trade down to later in the first round with a view to taking Brohm, and use the extra pick which you get for another player or next year

I know but redfoxes is saying that if he falls to 3rd he's not a franchise quarterback. Those late finds are rare but Quarterbacks outside of the two have tended to perform better. Ryan Leaf, Tim Couch, David Carr, Alex Smith, i mean the bust go on and on and i'm sure i'm leaving out plenty.

Parcells does know talent but he likes defense more and he can get a Quarterback in the second round this year. Bulger is only 31 he will play 4-5 more years if he can stay healthy they won't take a QB in the first they are still a year or two away from taking a QB with a high draft choice.
