I really dont think ANYONE said anything about the Vols being the Mecca of college Basketball but maybe the state of TN at one point since we had 3 teams in the top 12 including the #1 and #2 teams at the time.
I know you meant experts but i had UL in the final four...i still have all my teams in the final four UL, KU, UT, UCLA....KU beating UCLA in the finals 79 to 73
There are no excuses!!! Louisville is a better BB Team. Tenn played a perfect DEF game by forcing 20 TO's..I know they shot poorly but also lost by 20 points, give them 9 or 10 more makes and there percentage goes up to 60%, and even with that they still lose!!!!!!!! TENN is and was overrated all year!
Nobody said that UTK was the Mecca of bball Tennessee THE WHOLE STATE! is Tennessee as a state had more teams into the NCAA tournament than your "tough" ACC because Tennessee had 5 teams ACC had 4 5> 4. Oh and i guess North Carolina is the mecca of basketball because they had 2 teams in the tournament? yeah i'd say that NC is a better bball state with 2 teams in the big dance as apposed to TN with 5 teams and nearly 6. and im glad you stated MEN'S HOOPS because you probably know that Tennessee womans hoops UNC @ UNC this season and is on a collision course with UCONN ( again ) to win a Woman's title FOR THE 8th TIME! please all UNC is bball and all they ever will don't talk trash to teams like TN who has won 100+ mens titles in the SEC more than teams like Kentucky, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia and LSU. in Mens and Womans BBAll Tennessee on the other hand has been ranked #1 in; Football, Basketball (w&m), Softball, Baseball. Please
Yeah, I don't think I ever heard anyone speak of the Vol's as the Mecca...
In fact, in my post before the game yesterday I thought they would get beat. That "organized chaos" offense is not consistent enough to win back to back. Lofton takes horrible shots... and 80% of the time down court the 1st guy who touched the ball shot it with no rebounding help. They have done this plenty this year, but fortunately played against weak competition MOST of the time... sure, they stepped up against Memphis. But they also had some pretty bad losses to Vandy, UK, and Texas where they looked like an average SEC team (which this year is not a compliment).
At the same time, Louisville has stepped it up.
I am a gator, but my whole family are UT alum and even they were not surprised last night.
You Must be a Kid ? Atleast I hope because those were some little kid comments Tennessee overated, but they played well against Memphis (there only loss) and florida a couple of times....Funny that "there RPI was so high" but yet there overated. You must of not gotten the memo on what is RPI? It's kool though you were probably playing on the swings at recess when that came out. Look at there season game by game record kid. I think you'll find that they went to Xavier and killed em went to Memphis and gave them there only loss of the season, Travelled to washington to play Gonzaga another W , Ohio State played at TENN and again another W, Western Kentucky played em in Nashville for the Win, and we can't forget about West Virgina who got beat too. Texas and now Louisville just kicked our A** ! Xavier ,W.V. , Memphis , W. Kentucky , and Texas were in it or made it to the sweet 16.. But the Vols were awful this year How you figure that? Pearl would of played North Carolina or D uke if givin a shot.. Lets see old N.C. TRAVEL AROUND LIKE THAT INSTEAD OF PLAYING IN N.CAROLINA ALL THE TIME , were you just set and wait for Duke every year . Oh yeah and this is the first year I can Recall that Tennessee being in the discussion for a basketball title (Men's) just give it a few years and see what recuits we start to get because of our overatted season ,who knows we might even pick up a player that was going to North Carolina, Your just a spoiled bandwagon kid who seems to just talk out his blank. you HEELSOFTAR50 &nbs p; &n bsp; &nbs p; &n bsp; &nbs p; &n bsp; &nbs p; &n bsp; &nbs p; &n bsp; &nbs p; &n bsp; Go Vols " keep the faith"   ; &nb sp; --KrazyKuzz
I'm assuming your speaking about my article? Fact is they beat noone this year with the exception of Memphis. The SEC was down peroid and i'm the biggest SEC homer there is. Vandy,KEN, and ARK looked real good in the tourney....UH . TENN should of lost in the 2nd round but somehow squeaked by in OT, it was bound to happen to happen against a decent team sooner than later. So I stand by my comments and say that TENN is
Tenn gave Memphis its only loss of the year, so they are really good.
However, they need to take lessons from the womens team on how to finish strong.
Pac 10 is the strongest in basketball this year. Period (UCLA's Kevin Love is the man)
SEC rules in football...can't wait to see who their conference champ beats in the national championship.
Rocky_Top_Roxz: I totally disagree with you saying that Tennessee as a state is the "Mecca of basketball", but after trying to read whatever you wrote I really hope so for the people in Tennessee's sake because God knows they're no good at things like puncuation or writing in general.
But going back to your assertion... North Carolina as a state has 2 schools in the elite 8... the most Tennessee can have is 1.... so what's this about Tennessee again?
Are you guys serious? Tennessee (the state) has a good year and you want to claim the basketball mecca? And you North Carolina, let's wait till you get a few more years of experience before you claim mecca. Everyone knows that the Commonwealth of Kentucky has the strongest basketball tradition in the country. Louisville, Kentucky, Western, et al., would have to suffer winless seasons for decades before the center of the basketball universe moved from the Bluegrass.
Jla...afford to travel? You are a joke bro. Nobody cares about College Baseball man, you want to brag about College Baseball, go down there on the message boards with the other 73 posters.
This is about football and basketball. In Basketball you have 2 NC in the last 33 years. Nothing to brag about there. In football you have 2 NC in the last 17 years, and they were both won by USC via Reggie Bush.
You might want to chill out with the Elite Eight success. You don't get anything for getting to the Elite Eight...so calm down.
Are you serious? Florida (a SEC team) won back to back championships. LSU was in the final 4 a few years ago. SEC is USUALLY dominant in basketball.
Are you being serious? One NC team since the year after Pitino went pro, and another who stayed alive through 4 rounds constitutes being dominant'? Your blind homer smack smells like football season.
Pac 10 is the strongest in basketball this year. Period ...
Is that why they have fewer teams in EE, and won fewer games in match-ups with BigXII ? Is that why they needed whistle help to get their league champ into SS over BigXII's #5 team? Is that why their #2 could stay within 20 of BigXII's #2? Is that why Pac teams are at 7-5 while XII won 9, lost 4 so far? I guess you must be anticipating a power-lifting meet next month to determine "strongest".
