As a lifelong Steelers fan, I will be the first to admit that they are in some REAL trouble next year. Not because the other teams in the division are better and they have improved more than the Steelers, but based purely on next year's schedule.
We are looking at the Pats, Colts, and Chargers (no other team in the divison has to play all three) along with the NFC East which is similar to the hard nosed football of the AFC North.
The offensive line is a concern, so they better be looking to fill those holes rather than the secondary. The last thing I want is Roethlisberger turning into the next David Carr because of a lack of protection.

I look at the glass half full. we play the Pats, Colts, Chargers, Jags, Cowboys, and Giants. excluding the Packers, these teams all had watershed years. The Pats will not go undefeated again. The Colts..yeah they are always capable and the Jags could improve too..but the Chargers, Cowboys, and Giants...who got hot at the right time to win it all...arnt all going to be just as good or better than last year...id say the majority of them will be worse...

???
Look, Ben Roethlisberger will never be the next David Carr. That's kind of embarrasing that you would make that comparison. Ben is bigger, stronger, can actually move outside of the pocket, and a has a better, more accurate arm.
So while the Steelers line might be a little worse next year, I think everyone is exaggerating our problems. They will find a solid replacement for Faneca and be fine. They still have plenty of weapons on offense and defense to defeat every team in the division. Willie Parker, Hines Ward, Heath Miller, Santonio Holmes, Troy Polamalu, Casey Hampton, James Farrior, James Harrison, etc: all still on the Steelers.

People....Steelers will be fine. Actually they have already addressed the biggest problem from last season, and that is the starting center.
Sean Mahan was awful last year and being the center, his struggles constantly broke down our entire offensive line. Signing Justin Hartwig was a underrated pick-up that went completely unnoticed. He will provide more size and stability the center of the line. These are the type of subtle signings the Steelers make every year that make them competitive year in and year out.
As far as Alan Faneca goes; he will no doubt go down as one of the greatest linemen in Steelers history. However, at his age it was becoming obvious that his feet were slowing a bit and his pass protection was not at the level it used to be. I think there will obviously be some growing pains at left guard this year, but I think it was the best move for our team moving forward.
Now to the guy who made the David Carr comparison....all I can say is dont be so dramatic. Big Ben put up the best season of his career and almost single-handily willed the Steelers to a division championship. All this while his offensive line allowed him to be sacked more than any other quarterback in the league. So if we get even slight improvement in pass protection, just think of how good he could be.
Finally, an important part of next year will be how healthy Willie Parker is coming off his broken leg. He is an absolute game changer with his speed and would have had himself a rushing title last year if not for his injury. His forces the defense to gameplan against the Steelers and gives us the opportunity to take advantage of the other team.
It will be an interesting season...but 8-8 would be the worst I could see this team doing....not the best....I predict 10-6 or 11-5 and fighting for another division title.

to all the people who are blowing that guy's David Carr/ben comparison way out of the water...i'm pretty sure all he meant was that he didn't want ben leading the league in sacks year in and year out like david carr and the Texans pathetic o-line. not that ben was going to play like him.
