Sorry to hear about McGee - huge loss.  But you guy's will still be tough next year.

Skillz - There're no rumors about Herb Pope going pro this year, I talk to the guy 1-2 times a week.  Please name your source, or are u just making stuff up?

Most importantly, I'm making my plans now for next year's WAC tournament in Reno.  Kindly asking for some fan-friendly advice since I've only seen Reno from the slopes of Heavenly, CA...  Where the best place to stay for the money, and atmosphere?

If I was coming here for the tourney, I'd stay at the Silver Legacy.  The weekday rates shouldn't be too bad, but they will rise for the weekend.  It's in the middle of downtown, the rooms are nice and there's a free bus in the area that will take you to Lawlor.  It's probably only about a mile or so away.

Just on a side note....

You definitely can't see Reno from Heavenly.  You see Carson Valley directly to the east and can see the eastern side of Carson City before Pevine Peak obscures anything farther north of that.  (including Reno)

I am not bashing on your comment, but as a life-long Carson City resident and Heavenly skier.  I have to mention it.

You are a COMPLETE Reno virgin.

Silver Legacy, Eldorado, Circus-Circus - all 3 are connected and would do you just fine.

To see Reno from the slopes, you would have to be skiing at the local resort - Mt. Rose.

Sidewinder, I was just joking. Couldn't you tell by the way I said the "JAIL" blazers are interested in him. I was just making a funny after all these freshman/sophomore's are making themselves available for the draft.

You will be treated a lot better than the Nevada fans were in Las Cruces. From what I've heard you couldn't even go out to dinner w/o being verbally pummeled by the locals.

Listen to these guys and stay in the heart of downtown. There's more to do plus the campus and Lawlor are right up the street.

Thanks for the insight.  I sure hope all the WAC teams improve their non-conference results next season so that we can establish a little more respect.  Most teams are expected to be a lot stronger next year.

Saddned to hear that the Las Cruces hospitality wasn't there for some nevada fans.  After all the trash talk and razzing, we should have least been willing to buy the first round of beers.
