oh yeah, forgot about Gurley. He is pretty small to be a 3 though(6'3"), it seems. But with Ford's offense he may be a good fit.

I agree that we will win at least 20 games again next year and that Ford would be stupid to go to Providence, a definite step down from Umass.

Being from the Providence area, I don't know why TF would take the PC job. It has always been and always will be a way station rather than a long term home. PC's practice facilities suck, the school doesn't put enough money into the program, and they play in the aging Dunkin' Donuts Center, which they have a hard time filling. With this sort of program, recruiting has been a huge problem in recent years. If Ford is interested in building a reputation to get a better job, he's better off doing that at UMass. Better yet, make UMass his long term home.

I'll say this, if TF takes a lousy job like PC, it means that the UMass program has little support from the administration, and UMass fans should be worried in the short- and long-term. More likely, he's using this offer as leverage to get more money and more support--at least that's what I hope. We'll see.

Providence is a dead end job.  Travis would be taking a step back.  The Friars will finish 8th/16th for the next decade.

If Travis does depart for Rhode Island... thank the AD/School Administrators and especially the UMass fans that decided not to support the basketball program... true shame.

It's funny how these ACC kids have to camp out to "purchase tickets" sell out the arenas and UMass students get theirs for free at the Campus Center and yet don't even show up to the games!

The AD/School Administrator don't have a local TV contract to air games, tickets prices are up there with those of the Boston Celtics lol what a joke, & marketing/recruiting is still horrible.

If I weren't so busy running 2 successful business's I'd apply to take the job.

It looks like Ford isn't going to LSU.....It appears that Trent Johnson will be leaving Stanford to take the job w/ the LSU Tigers according to ESPN......As for for the PC Friar job, I agree w/ you all T-Ford would be would out of his tree to take the position......it is a parallel move at best and more realistically a step back....no offense PC fans/alum.

I heard this morning on WEEI (for what it's worth) that Ford has until the end of the day to give PC an answer. Get cracking on that new deal UMass.

on masslive.com and on espn many people are saying its a step up. HOW? Is it really worth it to finish 11th-16th in conferance everyyear just to say your coaching in the big east. I would rather be top 4 and have a shot to make the tourney every year as he does in the rapidly improving a10

Well it looks as if Travis Ford will be sticking around for at least one more year. I hope that UMass can lock him up for a long time, but the way the coaching carousel works, he could be out the door at a moments notice.
