I have to start this thread because it seems like every year the Cleveland teams are competing, although losing before or in the championship. I can't help but wonder just how many times can these Cleveland franchises blow a shot to win a championship in their respective sport. Last year, the Browns even showed some life.
So, with the topic of this thread covered...which Cleveland team do you think has the best chance to win a championship in their respective sport. For those of you who are sports-knowledged impared I'll try to make it as easy for you as possible. I almost wonder why Cleveland doesn't have an NFL franchise.
Depending upon your viewpoint I suppose you could throw in the Buckeyes(since they are liked across the state) or some college team. I pretty much just stuck with the pros.
So which one do you think has the best chance to do so?

Buckeyes should be in the BCS Championship again, still a very young team. Browns showed life last year, I think making the playoffs this year would be considered a successful season.
The cavs are pretty much the best shot to win before anyone else.

The Browns will do better this year then the Steelers, look at some of my other messages and you will see that I have the Browns winning their division. With that said, its still the Patriots and Colts league to lose so I don't see them winning a championship anytime soon.. If they give Quinn the starting job they might not even make the playoffs! As for the rest of the Cleveland teams, Lebron and the Cavs always have a shot, this year its the Celts turn but James can get them a ring before the rest of the Cleveland teams get one.

I agree. James could get them a ring this year, if the boston curse includes the celtics

If Cleveland can get in with Derek Anderson, Braylon Edwards could beat any Colts or Patriots defenders. It only takes one good play.

Sorry Herbert..I have to disagree with the Browns winning the division..I'm still partial to the Steelers as you must well know. Somehow I don't see the Cavs getting past the second round.
Maybe I should have asked if all Cleveland teams are cursed...sometimes it sure seems like it.

Sorry SupR, but i'm going to have to agree with Herbert on this one. Then again i'm partial because i'm a Browns fan! lol But seriously, isn't this awesome for both the browns and the Steelers because we can actually argue about who is going to win the division and its not a complete joke! Anyways, on to the topic, I think Lebron and company will be the first to win one, and i think if they can get past Boston in the 2nd round, then they will do it this year! Everyone seems to think that the playoffs are over and that Boston is going to win it all no problem, and i cant figure out why? Didnt anybody learn their lesson with the LAST team from boston that everyone thought was just gonna roll to a championship? (Sorry Pat fans) Besides, something happens to lebron during the playoffs. He turns into this superhuman that cant be stopped! It dont matter who is on his team, and how they play all season, when lebron james is in the playoffs, other teams beware!

Go Brownies...that's cute. Were you so scared that you might be wrong that you had to say it twice just so it could sound good to you? Just kidding dude...but as you know I'm partial to my Steelers and the Browns still have to prove they're not a one-shot wonder.
I do see the Cavs making it past the first round, but they got a serious beatdown in game 3. They better win game 5.
Somehow most Indians fans aren't optimistic about their chances either. I tend to gauge how good the Indians teams by what their fans say, and so far most don't like their chances.
Maybe if Cleveland got an NHL franchise they'd have a few more chances to finally win one.

It would be nice it Browns could pull off some kind of trade for Eagles CB Lito Sheppard (next years 3rd rounder sounds like a fair price for him), because they addressed almost any other need this offseason, except a need for CB, I think guys Browns have on roster are very talented, but may need some more experienced CB to help them develop.
But CB issue aside, I hope Browns can prove this season they're not just one year wonder, and go deep in Playoffs.

hahah this is hilarious i would give the cavs a shot but seriously the Browns???hahah i have to laugh they are most overrated team in the nfl right now paper champs of the afc north but too bad the games not played on paper. you still gotta go through the Steelers to get to the top and that hasnt been easy for you and dont expect baltimore and cincy to roll over either......i have a feeling the browns are gonna be a MAJOR let down this season.........horribly overrated

Hammer, I agree with you. Lito Sheppard would be awesome to see in a Browns uniform next year, and hes just what need, but I dont see it happening because they dont have a 3rd round pick next year (for whatever reason, they traded it during the draft to move back into the 4th round to draft a damn TE), and I dont see Phil trading another 1st day draft pick next year when he spent the whole 1st day as a spectactor in this past draft. So although Lito would be nice, i dont see it happening for us.

I honestly believe that each of these three teams are very talented. However, I do not seeing any of these times having a legitimate shot and winning a ring. Each team is missing one or two pieces of the puzzle in order to win. The Browns have a spectacular young offense with an up and coming Derek Anderson, a rejuvenated Jamal Lewis, and some quality wide receivers. Yet, they lack a big receiver such as Plaxico Burress or Randy Moss which provide certain intangibles to the offense. Furthermore, the lack strength on defense throughout and do not maintain the depth of a Superbowl Champion team (playoof team yes). Defense wins championships. The Cleveland Indians can't win due to their inability to draw a heavy hitter into their line up (Travis Hafner does not cut it) and the lack of pitching depth behind C.C. Sabathia and Fausto Carmona is a major concern (they will also lose Sabathia next year due to contract issues). Finally, the Cavaliers can't win due to the lack of a versatile big man. While Ilgauskas has a great inside prescence, he averages only 9.3 ppg and lacks mobility and range. During the Lakers incredible championship run, Shaquille O'Neal averaged over 25 ppg for the season and served as a compliment to Kobe's outside game. Lebron James has no such help.

I am a diehard Red Sox fan but I have to say that the Indians have the best chance of all PRO Cleveland teams to a win a championship. Though they sit at .500 going into today at 18-18, they have a great Big 3 of pitchers---Carmona, Sabathia (poor start but last years CY Young is bound to improve that 6+ era) and the current headliner Cliff Lee.....(6-0).... Their offense is off to a slow start but they are bound to bounce back as well, their personell is better than they are playing.....
Lebron got the Cavs to a championship last year but they are already down 2-1 in the second round with a tough road even if they win this current series with the Celtics...though it doesnt hurt to have Lebron--one of top 2 best players in the NBA....(see Kobe Bryant), it looks bleak to win the whole thing. Last year was an amazing run, this year seems even tougher...
The Browns have shown they can put numbers on the board and are looking to bolster their defensive unit. I predict they make the playoffs but I do not think they are well-rounded or proven enough to "take it all the way".... never know though...
