Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a little, but honestly I could see us finishing the season 2-14 and picking first next year (we'll beat Oakland twice, we just can't let them beat us). I don't think we'll put enough experience on the field this year to fall out of the top 5 for next year.

So, who are we looking at to take in the top 5 next year? A QB? DE? DT? OT? I mean, it sucks for Herm because he's probably realizing right now that this youthful and talented team will be coached by someone else next season...

Personally, I hope Herm is still with us in the '09-'10 season to have a chance to work with his 13 draft picks this year for more than just one season.

Please look respectable next year KC...

(Maybe I'm just over-reacting to the loss of Jared Allen right now. I'm sure I'll be much more optimistic after the draft...just sayin')

with the schedule KC has I don't think there is any way they can finish worse than they did this year. I think 6-10 is perfectly do-able.

It's way to early to talk about next years picks. Could very well be QB but Croyle might have a good year and buy himself some time. My guess would be OT though just depends on this years draft. I think after this year we'll be stacked at D-Line and on our way on O-Line. I think Linebacker and corner are more likely in 09

Besides not knowing how the season will play out and where we will finish, we have no idea how not just this draft class, but the last 2 that Herm has drafted will develop this year. For all we know Turk and Tank might step in and be servicable as DL, and half of our picks could step up to be starters.... That would leave us with an incredibly young team with a ton of potential that leaves us to draft pretty much by value rather than need or a combination of. I still think we'll need another corner from somewhere though, unless we get like 6 in the draft this year. 13 picks... that is just bananas.

I may be overly optimistic, but I'm not ready to write this season off.  If we can have a good draft, with our 2nd and 3rd year players, possibly we can have a good season.  Alot depends on Croyle, of course, but I think our defense will only continue to improve, if we can keep them off the field more, hopefully LJ will return to play like he is capable of, we have Bowe and Gonzelez, and I think Darling may work out.  We also now have Chan Gailey calling plays, which was a real weakness the last 2 years.  Call me stupid, but the Packers were the youngest team in the league last year, and made the NFC championship game.  There are always a few surprise teams every year, and I hope we are one of them.  I'm probably just impatient.  I've been a Chief's fan since their one and only Superbowl win.

Brodie Croyle is a wildcard, for sure. Larry Johnson bouncing back is another.
