Has Snyder traveled to see any other prospects this off-season?  Does this telegraph that the 'Skins are picking him?

They certainly need some help on the Defensive line.  But since they haven't successfully traded for a receiver, will they have to select one in the draft.  I hope they don't because this draft seems pretty thin on quality receivers.

I would guess the skins will take a d-lineman with their round 1 pick.  They tried to trade for the big name WR's because the draft is so thin.  I could see them picking up a WR in round 2, as the WR's in the second round shouldn't differ that much in quality from the ones in round 1.  D-line is a place a rookie could potentially start, while O-line they'll be drafting a reserve.  I could see them taking a safety as well, but the first round will be thin in that position.

I think you're correct Ander, I think the Redskins have plans on making Anthony Mix a big part of their receiving corps this season. Mix was a former NY Giant practice squad player that the Skins picked up last season. He is a big body and was very athletic. Talking with some Giant fans they are kind of dumbfounded as to why they let Mix get away. I think they have a diamond in the rough here and the Skins have already mentioned incorporating Mix into the offense. They might pick up another receiver in the second round but I think their priority is to improve their pass rush this season.

I don't know if he has traveled to see picks before, if he is not that interested it would have been a good ploy to get teams under him to try to trade up. Although Snyder hasn't valued draft picks very highly in the past, so he probably is real interested.

After the Merling workout, the Skins traveled to Oklahoma for Malcolm Kelly's workout.  As a Skins fan, I hope they target the Defensive Line in Round 1 and pick up WR in Rd 2.

Too bad Merling is more of a run stuffer than a really good pass rusher

I believe this is the safe pick for the Skins if they are unable to trade for more picks. This is their backup plan. They are not sold on WR which is where I believe they really wanted to go with the pick. Unless they have a O-linemen or CB that is rated pretty high drops or they see that the WR is s safer pick because Merling did not do the job, they are going DE with this pick and going to have to make it work. At 6-5 272 he can play inside and outside so he helps with depth.

Co-eds! There are plenty out on Bowman field this time of year!

Good luck to Merling. He's been a solid player for the Tigers and will be a productive NFL player. I hate to see guys leave early, but you have to do it if you are projected for the 1st Round.

Clemson is cranking out some great DE's again (Gaines Adams last year). A lot of that is due to the D they play, and the DC is Vic Koenning, who was at Troy before coming to Clemson. He coached Andre Ware and Osi Yumeniura at Troy.

Clemson just signed D'AQuan Bowers this past recruiting class, the #1 (or #2, depending on recruiting service) overall recruit in the nation. He will start this year...not sure when.
