Why, why, why! There are so many others spots you need to fill. Jonathan Stewart is good, but not good enough to give up needed picks.

they gave up picks for Jeff Otah, not Jonathon Stewart.
I agree though, with the depth of RBs in this draft, (forte, ray rice, etc), they could have easily picked up someone in the 3rd or 4th round (not as good as jonathon stewart, but probably good enough).
biggest disappointment? no draft for the Dline. They got a tackle, a safety, a rb, but though Dan Connor was a great get, I would have preferred a DT over an ILB.

strike that, they got a DT in the 6th round. Nick Hayden, wisconsin.
I meant, I wish they would have gotten a DT in the first 3 rounds.

Jonathon Stewart is a monster on the football field. While he's not flashy, he flat out performs and can wear down a defense. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with that pick.

While you are right that he is more of a bruiser runner, calling him not flashy is not completely true. Yes, he is a big guy, but he has really good speed and can move really well. True, he may not be as "flashy" as some speedster wide out, but he has pretty good flash for a back of his size. And as long as he can stay healthy and get carries, he will definitely be a really good asset to the team. I've seen him in action, and he is very fun to watch.

So I get that no one in this thread likes the Jonathan Stewart pick, but are you all that convinced that D. Williams is that good? Can he handle that many carries and last all season? Don't get me wrong, I feel there were many other areas that Panthers could have filled, such as DT or QB but Stewart will be a very productive player for the Panthers and who knows, maybe him coupled with D-Will will give Delhomme the time he needs to let S.Smith tear up secondaries. Speaking of S.Smith, I have heard people compare DeSean Jackson to him, if he hits the weight room a bit they would be very similar in stature....thoughts?

I'll give you my thoughts on the situation dj, I think the Cats are going back to the power running game like when Davis took them to the SB (quite obvious there). Stewart wears down the defense and eventually the safeties have to move up to help out the tired Dline, then you bring in the speed back in DWill, use that new pass catching TE and our new receivers and of course, Smitty to open up the field and score points. It's a great plan and I love it.
