In most of the NBA mock drafts that I have seen, Donte is in the lottery. The decision needs to be based on what is best for him. I know that being a huge Syracuse fan; it would be wonderful if he returned. Jonny Flynn, Paul Harris, and the rest of the team will be a year older, as well as getting some playing experience last year due to the loss of Devendorf and Routins.
With Devendorf and Routins coming back, as well as incoming freshmen like Kris Joseph, playing time will be hard to come by, but that could prove to be a positive thing because there will be battles during practices. The influx of talent next season will ensure that each player will be competing with someone who is just as good, if not better than they are.
I think we can all agree that the Orange would certainly be better with Donte coming back. Yes, he played very well for the most part, but he was not the type of player who took over the game or who I wanted to have the ball with time running out, Jonny Flynn was. I didn't notice him playing exceptionally well on the defensive end as well. For someone who is 6'10'', he needs to get stronger and have more of an impact at the college level before venturing into the NBA.
