My original thought when seeing who was staying/leaving, was that we could still be very good next year even if Wayne and Ty leave because we would have Danny coming in to fill Wayne's role and Frasor and Drew at PG. However, that is in question now that we know Danny is testing the waters too. Strangely, I think Danny has the skill set to be the best pro out of all of these guys. Not that he will be, but if he develops well, he can be. He is 6'5'', strong, a great shot blocker for a guard, and can shoot the three well.
Also, Tyler Hansbrough is the reigning National POY. It is hard to say that you would rather have those two other guys coming back than Tyler. With Hans back, the inside scoring is taken care of. With Tyler gone, we would have major question marks regarding scoring in the paint. I don't think Thompson is that guy right now and Zeller and Davis still have some learning to do and weight to put on. If Wayne and Ty leave, we would hopefully have Danny to fill that perimeter scoring void, along with Frasor, Drew, and even Ginyard who showed he can hit the outside shot.
I will say this though. If we lose Wayne, Ty, and Danny, things are going to be very, very tough next year for the Heels. That's 3 of the top 4 scorers from last year. Not only will making it back to the Final Four be incredibly difficult, but winning the ACC again would be a dogfight losing that much scoring. I don't think we will lose all three guys, but obviously that is a real possibility at this point. The key may be Ty Lawson. If Wayne and Danny leave, but Ty comes back, I think the Heels would be a very good team again, with Ty having to take on a much larger scoring role.
GO HEELS!
