Here is the latest new on Jered Weaver from CBS sportline.com.
Angels SP Jered Weaver is starting to look more like his brother Jeff, giving up 10 hits for the second straight game Monday at Boston. He lasted five innings, surrendering five runs and striking out four. He didn't factor in the decision.
(Updated 04/22/2008).
I really hope that Jered takes all this to heart because he shouldn't be compaired to his brother Jeff. He is so much better then him and will achive so much more then his brother Jeff ever will in there career's, but it's real life and what people think.
I personally think it has a lot to do with Lackey and Escobar being out because he has the presure of being an ace when he really isn't ready for it. He is a solid two or three pitcher, so when Lackey gets back he should be able to turn things around. He will have less presure on him and will probably be a little more comfortable out on the mound which in return will bring our Angels more wins.
He is now pitched in 5 games with a record 1-3, an ERA of 4.50, and 19 K's. He is better then this and should make a turn around pretty soon. He will be facing the Tigers tomorrow, so let's just hope he has his game face on and pitches a hell of a game.
What are your thoughts on Weaver and how he has been doing this season???

Weaver is this years Santana.
People will love him while he is pitching good, but will turn there back on them when they are in a slump.
Those were my thoughts.

I personaly think he will turn it around soon. However tonight on ESPN, might be tough with the pressure. I'm hoping he'll go; 6.2 inn, 5 HA, 2ER, 1BB, 4K.

I agree that he shouldn't be compared to his brother... yet. The season is still early and he has time to prove that he can do the job. My only concern is that he let his performance get to him, thereby putting more pressure on himself and then spiraling downward. He's still young but has the makings of a great pitcher!
I also agree that when Lackey returns, there will be less pressure overall on the pitching staff (Garland hasn't been the shining star we hoped for either).
Today's game in Detroit (4/27) will be another test for this young pitcher!

Wow,
Weaver is having a really good game tonight having pitched 6 innings so far, with 5 K's, 2 hits, and 0 ER. He is really looking good tonight and is looking like the pitcher we saw last season.
I myself am really glad to see him pitching this well because he just gave me the points I needed to pull ahead in this weeks fantasy games (money league).
This win (If we can keep it) is also really big because the A's came from behind on Seattle today which puts them at 16-10 on the season. It looks like we will go into the series with the A's with the same record of 16-10. Hopefully we can take 3 of the 4 games and put some space in the standings. I know its early, but it would nice to have a gap to play with.
Great game Weaver

An excellent game for Weaver! This has got to be a boost for his self confidence. Watching the game last night, he just looked better overall. The early walks made me a bit nervous, but he settled down quickly and held the Tigers.
Now if we can just get Oakland to start losing... for the next four games, we get to be in control of that!

Another bad outing for Jared Weaver against K.C. tonight, in spring training he was lights out and now during the reguler season he's being lit up.
what I feel his problem is, is that he's putting to much pressure on himself to be the main guy with both John Lackey and Kelvim Escobar out, so trust me once Lackey comes back you will see a different Jared Weaver

Angelgirlz,
Jered is so much better then his brother Jeff.
The only problem is that Jered is a good number 3 pitcher and not an ace (not yet). He is still young and will learn to grow, but we can't expect him to come in this season and pitch the way he did last season pitching out of the number spot (ace). It just won't happen.
Remember he has both Lackey and Escobar pitching lights out which made his life that much easier, so hopefully with the return of Lackey Jered starts producing a bit better.
