You got me curious about the divison setup in the AFL. After looking through it there are two teams that I would change. The Western and Southern divisions make sense and work according to their geography.
Dallas is obviously the team out of it's range being in the East, but the Grand Rapids are in the Central and I would think that they belong in the East instead of Dallas. And Dallas should be in the Central.
What I don't know (and too lazy to look up right now) is when the teams entered in the league. That could be why they are in the repected divisions they are in today. The division may have been already made up and a expansion team came in and they were placed in a division, regardless of geography, to have the same number of teams in each division. Although, the East does have one more team (5) than the rest of the league (4). Who knows, maybe the AFL will revamp the divisions later on like they did in the NFL to make it more geographically correct.
