I love this guy out of Hawaii. Hopefully the Cowboys will pick him up. Is he not NFL material or something? He holds a lot of records in College.

Colt Brennan hasn't shown himself to have NFL quality tools at QB. He may prove to be a Doug Flutie kind of player, but he's certainly not worthy of a top five draft pick. He'll probably be picked up as an undrafted free agent.

Colt Brennan is an undersized quarterback, but the real reason he hasn't been drafted is because of his throwing mechanics. He throws side armed and NFL coaches hate that so that is the main reason everyone is passing on him. Another thing is that horrendous performance he put up against Georgia in that bowl game. That made his stock what little bit of it he had sink to the point that no one will want to pick him up. There was speculation about Vince Young a couple of years ago about his side arm motion hurting his draft, but he has good athlethism so they opted to draft him and just fix his throwing motion. With Brennan, and I am not bashing the WAC conference by saying this but the WAC is not the same as the BiG East, SEC, ACC, or PAC 10. So that will be one reason he will be overlooked as well. It was kind of like Zabransky for the Boise State Broncos last year. He is head in shoulders better than Brennan is in my opinion and he didn't even get drafted. So the chances of him being drafted are really low, but like tcpokerrun said he will probably be an undrafted Free Agent and then some team might can work with him on his throwing motion without having to invest much money or a draft pick.

Apparently the mechanics of a throw are really important. I agree that the UGA game definitely hurt Brennan a lot, but the scouts might have overlooked that if there weren't the mechanics issues. I'm surprised that Woodson from UK still hasn't been picked as of the mid. 6th round. I'm sure he'll make a team somewhere, he put up good numbers against good competition in college and he's big and strong.
Seems like the teams are weird about not wanting to pick a QB if they aren't hyped by the scouts. I'm not saying either of those will end up being awesome in the NFL, but they're good enough to at least make a team as a backup.

Colbymon, as a Giants fan, I hope you get your wish. If you want, feel free to take Butler off of our roster to replace Roy Williams (you can keep the hog-tyer).

Colt Brennan just isnt a good quarterback, he holds a lot of records because he plays in the WAC who is known for their offense and the lack of defense. And Hawaii probably throws more then any other team, and thats not because they have Brennan I believe the quarterback that was there before brennan also held a couple passing records, and he was no one. Also Brennans touchdown to interception ratio was less then stellar.

Why Dallas pick a QB, they have Romo. Their have others needs in secondary and the O-line.

Great 6th round pick...Much better than the steelers and Dixon. I watch a lot of Wac football, and he is very good. Having him in the background is a nice move by the Redskins.

So what if he throws sidearm? Phillip Rivers is doin all right, and while i admit he was terrible in the bowl game, there wasnt much he could do, their O-line was overmatched. He's been getting stronger and he completed 20 of out 21 passes at the combine! the only one that was incomplete was a dropped pass by a rec.

He's no steal. He's going to be holding a clipboard if he dresses at all during his time here. We drafted him to be what he is, a third string, emergency QB that can hopefully develop into a backup. The Redskins have said that after cutting Mark Brunell that they would be getting their #3 man in the draft and the 6th round for a 3 string guy seems like a good move. Colt Brennan, don't you believe for a moment that he's going to turn into the next Tom Brady.

I understand where you're coming from with your logic, but don't say that he can't be the next Tom Brady. I'm pretty sure that when Tom was coming out, no one thought he was going to be the youngest quarterback to win the Super Bowl (now 2nd to Big Ben) and no one thought he'd be a lock for the Hall of Fame before the age of 30. No, I don't think Brennan will be a star, but more than a third of current NFL starting quarterbacks weren't first rounders so no one knows anything in this day and age of over analyzing.

Like BleedinBlue1 said, he is basically just a system quarterback out of Hawaii. They play a successful offensive system in a weaker conference and they never run. Timmy Chang (the quarterback before him) had all kinds of NCAA records (which I think Brennan has since beaten) and is now playing for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL. He is their backup quarterback.
