Not sure why Billy Ownes was brought up here but O.K, I can agree with what you have said in that respect. Forget stats and all the numbers and the word potential, forget it all. As basketball fans there can't be anyone that believes that Demetris Nichols is a better basketball player than Donte Greene. Just based on pure basketball ability Donte blows Nichols out of the water.

Lets not forget the hype Demetris Nichols had coming out of High School. He was rated top 30 in the country, Rhode Island state Player of the Year, and some sites had him as a 5 star recruit but most as a 4 star. I know to take these recruiting site with a grain of salt but the Donte bashing is coming because he supposedly didnt live up to his hype these same sites amped him up to be. I'd think 17 and 7 and 35 percent from 3 point land is better than Demetris 2 points and 1 rebound his freshmen year.

All of those freshman were expected to do good their freshman year, none of them ended up becoming superstars. I thought Nichols was better during his senior year than Donte was when he was a freshman. Obviously because he had more expierence. Donte should have stayed another year, but that's his choice to move onto the NBA. This is starting to get old. Just watch the NBA Draft in June.

You also have to take into account that Nichols didnt have to play right away.  Also the fact that he suffered with back injuries his first 2 seasons.  I dont know why you are so stressed out about comparing them at the same stage because I guarantee the camps and workouts Nichols was going to after his senior season are the same ones Donte is doing now.

In my opinion Owens was most talented player to come to Syracuse. He did not live up to his potential. He had possibility of becoming the next "Magic" out of college. He was not a great NBA player. Donte came to SU with much fanfare. He was not as spectacular as Owens was in college. Greene did not dominate college players. He is not an obvious choice to be an NBA superstar. Without work ethic and talent he will not reach NBA superstar status. Greene will be compared in draft to players of all ages. Bottom line Nichols as a senior was a better basketball player than Greene last year. Today Warrick is a better basketball player than both Greene and Nichols. Greene needs to work harder and stay at least one more year. Go Orange

I don't get your point. Greene is a first round pick because of potential. If there was a 3 game tournament tommorrow I would rather have Nichols on my team instead of Greene. If I was an NBA GM looking for talent I would absolutely select Greene way ahead of Nichols. Greene still has no agent. I believe he is taking classes this summer. I hope he has the grades and choice to come back to SU. Go Orange.

My point is Donte is a better basketball player and the NBA teams know this. I'd take Donte in a 3 game tournament no questions asked. I dont understand how you all can say Demetris is or ever has been better than Donte Greene. At all stages of their respective carrers Donte has been ranked higher in every recruiting or projection site out there. He was a 5 star top 10 recruit, Demetris was not. Now he is a first round pick, Demetris was not. I dont understand how you can argue Demetris is better in any form of basketball than Donte, 3 game tournament or NBA Draft.

We can agree to disagree! I still believe today Nichols is a better player than Greene. I think we both want Greene to return and mature on court and dominate less skilled players and live up to his potential.

Goat, what we're saying is that Donte isn't as good now as Nichols but someday he will be.

I understand what you all are saying. I suppose we can Agree to Disagree. I just don't understand if you watch basketball how that statement can be made.
