Hansbrough Transfers to Notre Dame

Ben, not Tyler, Hansbrough is transferring to Notre Dame from Mississippi State.  Ben started the majority of games for the Bulldogs, as they advanced to the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament this year.  He is an athletic, six foot three inch guard, who, after sitting our a year, will take over the spot vacated by Kyle M. 

Ben chose ND over Purdue and Oklahoma State. 

I think this is a great get for Notre Dame, and this will allow Ben to play with Harangody, who would be a senior in two years.  Go Irish!!

This is a huge pickup for Mike Brey and the Irish.  They will lose 4 seniors next year who all contribute regularly.  They have some good young talent but this years freshman are all untested and with 7 of 8 of the rotation returning playing time will be tough.  Look for Carlton Scott and Tyrone Nash to emerge next year as big contributors and momentum for big years in 2009. 

There is also another transfer from Purdue looking at the Irish.  He would be a Soph. after he sits out next year giving the Irish 3 yrs of eligibility.  These two pickups would give the Irish the influx of talent they were looking for in a couple years.

The IRISH are going to be tough again in the Big East.  They have a great chance at winning the conference and landing a 2 seed in the Big Dance.  Now that ND has a couple of great transfers 09 will even be a bigger year.  Can you just imagine 2009 for ND.  The football team should be battling for a championship along with the basketball team.  IRISH eyes are smiling again!!!
