According to some sources, Pitino is interested in coaching in the NBA.  Cuban might give him a call, and the heat job is also open, along with the bulls and NY.  U guys think it will happen?

It would have to be an insane amount of money to get him to come to the NBA. Although, he did a great job with the Knicks and a decent job with the Celts.

He is older and likes the stability of college. Less travel. He is already extremely rich and does not need the money. He has lots of good players.

I think that he would like to be the 1st guy to win titles at 2 different colleges.

He would probably be right there with Coach K in wins if he had stayed at UK. Now he will try to continue his legacy as one of the best college coaches ever.

I think that the chances of him leaving for one of those jobs is about 5%!

Pitino's name is always mentioned in the NBA when a coach is fired.  He is a good coach but he is a COLLEGE coach.  When he coached the Knicks the times were different players listned and responded Todays players Play for ME ME ME Pitino hates ME ME ME.  Not saying impossible but Highly unlikely he would jump ship to the  nba

well i think that coaching in the NBA is the best of the best.  If you can get NBA players to respond to you, then i think that is a very great accomplishment.  Dont get me wrong, K and Pitino and Donovan and Roy Williams and Self are all great coaches, but I will not put them in the same sentence as Phil Jackson or Gregg Popovich because they have won numerous championships at the greatest level.  Not only do you have to deal with large egos, but you are up against the best of best every night.  Coaching in the NBA is the greatest challenge, a bigger challenge than NCAA basketball.  I dont understand why Coach K or other great NCAA coaches coach in the NBA.  I know they love where they are at and i know they all are in great situations, but wouldnt you want to compete at the highest level, especially if you are successful year in and year out at the NCAA level.  Wouldn't you want to step up and go bigger?

HIS BRAND OF BALL DOESN'T GO OVER GOOD WITH ALL THE PRIMA DONAS. they would have to run press pass and play defense. There isn't 4 players in the NBA that will do 3 of the 4 . Forget the Don remains were he is loved.

Pitino has been there, done that. He hates to lose and even the greatest record ever in the NBA included 12 losses i believe. Too much travel, too many players who are stars who make more than the coach. Pitino has more money than he needs, gets on well with his boss, tom Jurich, has a new arena on the way, and a roster full of PLAYERS coming back to make a run at the championship next year. Pitino is a GREAT motivator, a competent tactiction. The best NBA coaches are master tactictions and not motivators. Their season is so long that you can't get them up every game, which is Pitino's strength. Won't say it can't happen, but I will say it won't happen again after what happened when he left UK.

it just seems like their is no defense played bc nba players are that good.  How many players on D1 NCAA teams make it to the NBA and play for 5-10 years and start.  The percentage is way low. Why? B/C IT IS VERY HARD TO MAKE IT TO THE NBA.  It seems like their is no defense played because IT IS VERY HARD TO GUARD NBA PLAYERS.  NBA Coaches must mesh their players and buy into their schemes and philosophies.  Your ignorant remarks show everyone that you obviously dont play a lot of organized basketball or you don't play against good basketball players.  Your on here posting too much (as evidenced that you have been here for almost 2 years and your a top 1,000 poster, which is not something to proud of or brag about).  If you take away kobe, you still have shaq.  Take away jordan, you still have pippen and rodman.  I believe that the bulls did make the playoffs when Jordan left to play baseball.  So not sniffing the playoffs, that also shows your lack of basketball knowledge.  And with parker and ginobili, the spurs would still make the playoffs.  And why is that players leave after 1 or 2 years?? CUZ THEY WANT TO PLAY IN THE NBA.  If they didnt want to, then they would stay all 4 years.

I like college ball a lot more than the NBA, mainly because of the UofL Cards, but I also like the NBA and those guys do play defense and the coaches do actually coach.  The talent level in the NBA is so much higher than college, it seems like when there is an open shot in the NBA from almost anywhere, its going in, you don't see that in college.  The guards and forwards handle the ball so well its hard to press and that also makes defense look bad.  The best NBA teams play defense and that's why they are the best and teams like Denver get swept in the 1st round.  For all you NBA hater's that like college ball give the NBA a look, especially now in the playoffs, you will be amazed with how much better the players are.
