After scoring 6 runs in the first off Boof Bonser (who, to be honest, has the worst name in baseball), the Tigers fold like a bunch of cheap suits and lose to the Twins 7 to 6. It seems the hitting strategy employed earlier in the season, which was swing first and wait for your pitch much later, returned on Sunday. Bonser threw 45 pitches in the first inning, and only 54 more in the next five innings, including a 5 pitch second inning. Way to make him work, Tigers. Nothing like letting the Twins right back in the game when you have a chance to step on their necks.
And when is Kenny Rogers going to get some support? The Tigers have been shut out 3 times when he has pitched, and then today's eventual dismal offensive effort. And don't get me started on Guillen and his stone hands at third base. Just put Inge at third permanently. His glove will save the multiple runs Guillen is costing us, and it's easier to prevent runs than earn them back with the bat. Today's hitting approach was a disappointing setback. I felt like I was watching the first two weeks of the season all over again.

This was the most disappointing loss all season. The start of the season was horrid but I thought we were over that. The Tigers had been playing so well too. There is a big difference between winning 2 of 3 games at Minnesota and losing all three. The Free Press had a story today that Jim Leland was going to make some changes in the lineup. He isnt happy with the TIgers lack of speed and inability to play small ball. He wants to be able to put a runner on base and move him around to score. Everyone keeps looking to make the big extra base hit We needed that win today, needed it badly and it looked like we had it.

Typical indoor plastic baseball. Not to diminish the Tigers loss but this weekend was exhibit A as to how the Twins do so well inside and awful outside. Lots of infield hits, hits through the infield that would normally be outs. Twins 11-6 at home and 5-8 away. Lets see how the twins far next week in Chicago.

AND Jones shouldve had that one that got over his head. He sux.

It will feel good to be out of that Dome, I can blame it all on the air inside the place.
Going back to Detroit and playing the Red Sox and Yankees again, hope to see the Tigers back to their winning ways. Would love to see an outstanding pitching performance to give everyone some confidence.

bottom line is that the pitching blows, and the bats show up when they want to. If at all.

Don't worry guys!!! Sheff and JJones and Inge should all be in the lineup today. With that kind of hitting, I doubt even Dice-K wants to take to the mound.

I think thats the first time I've heard that.
As a Twins fan I can say I did not think that by this time in May that we'd be in first and the Tigers in last. Then again I think all in baseball thought that.
Either way Tigers fans I'm pretty sure your team will take the division by seasons end, nobody has a strangle hold on anything right now and its all up for grabs. I'm pretty positive that as the temps heat up so will the offense for the Tigers. Just gotta worry about that starting staff.
Also the Tigers have played more road games than home games to date so that will work in your favor down the road.
It was a good thing the dome was in place this weekend, Sunday was the only decent day weather wise over the weekend.

The division looks it will be hotly contested all the way, the Twins have been playing very well and the White Sox are cooling off (but not their manager!). The Twins and the Royals have surprised nearly everyone and are preventing any one taking charge and running away with the ALCentral division. Baseball is just the hardest game to predict.

All this ends tonight, the skipper is mixing up the batting order. I trust this man in every aspect of the game especially when he puts someone on the hot seat like he did today with the 158 million dollar man. Tigers win 10-3 tonight, you heard it here!

Just imagine how I felt being at the dome for the whole weekend. I had reason to be happy for one nice long inning and kinda through the sixth I could at least still be happy, So out of 27 innings, I could be not too disappointed for about six i | |
