Okay, we are already into May and Mr. Jones and Mr. Sheffields hitting stroke has not arrived from Spring Training.   Jones is hitting a whopping .165, 1 - HR's, 5 - RBI's while super slugger Sheffield is tearing it up at .185, 2- HR's, 5 - RBI's.

How much longer does Leyland wait on these guys?  If it were me Jones would be sitting already his defense isn't that good to warrant his bat in the lineup.  If a .235 average can keep Inge out of an every day spot a .165 should keep Jones on the bench.

Sheffield on the other had should also sit.  If he's not 100% that fine but he's certainly not helping the Tigers at this point so sit him and let him get better and do some rehab at Toledo.  When he starts hitting put him back in the lineup.

Not long I guess as Jones was cut several hours after my post.  See yeah Jones thanks for the great month of sub .200 batting.....

You got influence with the Tigers!   Jacque Jones gets sent down hours after you post that and Gary Sheffield has one last chance to produce.

Heh-heh... yeah, good call.

At least Sheff draws walks and can run the bases.  And he's a typically slow starter, though we're already a week into May and I don't see many signs that he's snapping out of his funk with the bat.  He was a serviceable fielder before age and injuries hit, so we'll have to see if he becomes a liability in LF.  Having Granderson in CF will mask that a little.
