All people want to say about Tracy McGrady is he can't make it out of the first round... he doesn't show up in the 4th quarter... blah blah blah.
I'm not surprised that T-Mac had surgery on both his knee and shoulder.
It just proves that he is the opposite of what many people think he is.
McGrady is the ultimate team player. His team is better with him on the court. So if he can play... he plays.
He plays through injuries, he plays through pain. He has surgery now so it won't have any effect on his team heading in to next season.
What more can you ask for from a player?
Yeah, it's unfortunate that he hasn't made it to the 2nd round, but that's not his fault. You win as a team, you lose as a team. It's not his fault he hasn't been on any teams that were good enough to make it to the second round.
I would want McGrady on my team any day. The only knock I have against him is that he does seem to be injury prone. That's the only thing I'd be concerned with. As far as heart, determination, and being a team player... T-Mac has all those qualities. He deserves more respect than what he gets from the average fan of the NBA.

Hey taut,
I too really like McGrady. He just shows up does his job. I think the pressure past few years got to him and he felt he had to carry the load - much the same as Kobe felt. Houston will be a force next year. I just hope that Tmac gives his surgeries adequate time to rest. With Yao back and a healthy Alston, They will be good. I also think, as a team the really made a statement against Utah. Yes they lost, but they went down fighting.
On a side note, I just wanted to know if your screen name was related to tautology in anyway. There are two definitions -one being a statement of logic, and the other being a redundant statement. I have never read a redundant post from you, but I was just curious if that was your meaning there
cheers

djjosiah, I hope whiskey didn't almost get you in trouble again.
Screen name is Tauntonian. I live in Taunton, Massachusetts... which makes me a Tauntonian by default.
Simple enough.
I could've went with something like Bostonian, but that would be lying. Lying is bad.
ahem cough cough (Roger Clemens) Lying is bad. lol
As far as McGrady, I'm not even a huge fan of his. I just think he gets a raw deal in the court of public opinion.

T-Mac = professional.
If someone does not want T-Mac on their team, they don't want a guy who gives you everything he has, every game he plays. I really think the media has blown the 1 & done out of proportion, and has done T-Mac a serious injustice. It has been a loooong time since 1 guy could carry an entire team in the NBA playoffs, and that's pretty much what T-Mac was expected to do. I'd gladly trade Agent Zero for T-Mac !

Rockets fans crack me up.. when is Yao Ming not hurt. you will never be a force, when you have a 7-6 fragile center who has been hurt every year since he has entered the league. lift some weights man. also, t-mac great player, but not outstanding. probably top 20-30 players in the league. defense is shoddy and he is lazy at times. he has to lay off smoking marijuana. pretty obvious it affects his game from being the best player like a kobe to just a good player. Lakers-Pistons final, lakers in 5. im out

I've been a fan of T-Mac ever since his Magic days. If you look back, there was one series against the Pistons where they managed to win 2 games, and it was all McGrady. By the end of the series, they Pistons were double teaming him when he had the ball outside the three point line, something I don't remember seeing before. He's starting to decline now, but I hope he finds his way onto a good team or that his Rockets have some success soon, he's been fun to watch and I wish I got to see more of him.
