Do you think it was a fluke in Chicago that Adam Archuleta couldn't produce? At the bargain price he will demand, I think the Browns would be smart to take a flyer on him. He may have lost a step at age 30, but he could definately help mentor the young backfield. Maybe a change of scenery would help him with his confidence. Any thoughts?

He would be a good mentor...maybe offer him an incentive based contract like we did for Jamal and see what happens.  We have enough cap room to handle his salary for a year to see what he can do for us.

We definately don't need another safety from the scrap heap.  Invest the money elseware or save it.

if we could get him on the cheap ..yes he would bring experience that we need at the position i am not sold on pool ,he seems to lack the mental aspect of the game ,i still miss Brian Russell back there

Terrible idea.  I don't care if he'd play for Skittles and beer, I don't want him on my team.  He can't compete in the NFL, is slow (physically and mentally).  I am aware that he could provide leadership, but a player won't accept an "incentive-based" contract based on playing time when he'd be relegated to a back-up role.

Jones and Pool are the unquestioned starters and we've got Sorenson and Adams behind them.  He'd be, at best, second on the depth chart, but probably third.

No need. He's of less value than Sorenson, Adams or even Milvon James & Baxter. At least with Sorenson and Adams we have excellent special teamers.  Also I wouldn't be surprised that later in the pre-season we'll have a lot better options.

No way.  He's slow, can't stay healthy and play the box.  And can't play man coverage.

Let's not go backwards now!!!!   I'd rather have a young guy out there who miss reads an offense occassionally, etc... than a veteran who just can't hack it anymore.

I was thinking the same thing you are at about this time last year as well.  I thought that Adam Archuleta was going to be a big part of the Bears defense and go back to being his old self especially because he was back with his former coach Lovie Smith.  That was not the case.  He was slow, couldn't make some of the tackels that he was expected to make, and didn't seem like he was doing anything to help the Bears.  He's lost too much to play in the NFL again.  A mentor would be the only positives to get out of him but even at that it's not like he was ever a consistently good player.  He had 3 good seasons with the Rams while they were a good team.  Being on a good team and producing for that good team makes him look better then he is.  I wouldnt take a chance on him if I was the Browns.

Eh, I wouldn't mind if they brought him in for cheap. He was always terrible in pass coverage, but he was good in run support. He wouldn't start over Jones or Pool, but he might be able to add value in run support. If he stinks, they could cut him. No big loss and didn't cost them much.
