What can I say, I like Edmonds. He is a nice guy.Sadly nice guys tend to finish last, and I would prefer us to be "competitive."

Edmonds does not have speed anymore. He was never really that fast, but always got a great jump on the ball.  I just don't feel comfortable with him in centerfield.

Number 15 Jim Edmonds has played in  24 games this season. with 87 at bats he has 15 hits with and average of  .172  with only 1 meaningless home run and a 0.230 slugging percentage. He also has struck out 24 times. That averages to one strike out per game he plays and he leads the team in that dismal category of strike outs per game. He does have 9 base on balls.

I actually feel Scott Hairston with his 0.200 average and 0.400 sluging percentage with 4 homreuns would be a better fit in center field than Jimmy and his gold gloves.

I think Jimmy boy needs another rehab spot in the minors. We started the season with him there and he produced some pretty decent numbers so I can only hope with him doing that again he could possibly bring some of that succes back to the majors with him. Also this creates an opporutnity for Headley to come up and show what he's got under his sleeve. I know the kid wants to play and I at least want to see him have a chance.

I think if the Padres keep him as their starting CF then he will be a bust.  I'd like to see KT deal for a rangy CF and platoon Jim Edmonds and Scott Hairston in LF.

Jimbo is a collective 5 for 17 over the last 5 games hes played. Yea that might sound decent that he's hitting almost .300 but he doesn't have a single RBI or extra base hit. HE'S SCORED ONE LOUSY MISERABLE RUN! I can't believe that I was actually excitedly anticipating him putting on a Padres jersey. He's flopping like a fish out of water.

Its true, Jim Edmonds is having trouble coming back from that calf injury but he is a consumate pro, and he deserves more time to work things out. As for the time being I believe Hairston would be a better fit in center (although he also is having a hard time at the plate) and they should move Edmonds to left. As for those other 2 scrap heap benchwarmers McNaulty and that other guy- should be let go because they are obviosly crap and should call up Headly and Gerut. If things are still bad in a month or so its time to play the kids!!! That is what Arizona did, took thier lumps and see what they have got. Turning over an old roster is just part of the cycle that teams have to go through (see Yankees, Cleveland, etc.). Facts are, you need to refresh your team with some young blood and that means taking your lumps sometimes. KT and Alderson will get us back on track- you have to admit that the past few years have been exciting.

out.

Well he's long gone now boys..... I thought we would have given him a rehab spot or something but he's got an unconditional release and no longer in the organization. Gerut looked great from the field last night. That throw to third to catch the runner was awesome! Too bad it was in vain once again, CAN WE AT LEAST WIN A GAME PLEASE????

I just saw Edmonds was signed as a free agent with the Cubs today. Now couldn't we have come to some agreement where we could have acquired someone from them in a trade? Why did we have to eat whatever we did from his previous contract? This really frustrates me when I know we are in desperate need of some young talent in the outfield who can swing a bat.
