This has to be one of the toughest questions. I can't answer this one, what do you guys think. Hamilton leads the league in RBI 36 and Volquez has a 1.06 ERA. Do you think that both would have the same numbers if they stayed with there past teams. Cincy isn't a pitchers park so I believe that Volquez might have the same numbers but hamilton might not be batting third in there linup. I don't know Hamilton has become my favorite player with his D and his bat. But a 1.06 ERA that is unheard of and he is still really young.

Josh Hamilton was a great trade. Volquez was never going to make it in Texas. He is throwing to a lot of hitter for the first time. I say wait a month or two for us to make a judgement. I do know this, Dusty Baker might ruin his arm in Cincy... Time will tell.

Sometimes guys just need a change to spark them up.

At the time of the trade? It looked like a steal.  Volquez showed us very little up to that time.  I expect he will have decent numbers for the year, but there's no way he sticks at 1.00 ERA for the year.  He's benefiting from being a relatively unknown.  As teams learn to hit against him and how to handle Volquez, expect to see his numbers normalize.

Hamilton?  He's a genuine 5 tools player.  He impacts the game EVERY day and leads the majors in RBIs.  The trade definitely benefited both teams, and as a Rangers fan, there is no way I'd undo it.

I think we are only beginning to see what Josh Hamilton can really do.  He is still getting better and I don't think their is a ceiling on him.  He is a true 5 tool player and has as good a chance as anyone to possibly make a run at a Triple Crown.

I think Volquez is a good pitcher would not be surprised if he folds like a cheap lawn chair the first time he faces some adversity.  I doubt he will finish with and ERA below 3.50 especially when it heats up in Cincy this summer.  He would have to be better than Johan Santana in his prime for me to take him over Josh.

I agree with Key. Volquez is performing over his abilities at the moment, Hamilton probably isnt. Most likely if Volquez was still a Ranger he would have an 8 something ERA and about to be demoted to OKC. Seems to be the norm for Ranger pitchers.

Pitching, pitching pitching.  How many more years of this do we have to take?  I wish I had a DVD player.  Now all I have have is a broke DVD.   Just one D and it is on the shelf, elbow problems of some sort.  Hamilton is not a long term solution.  Rangers are a mess.

Well said, everybody but one dude said Hamilton. I am leaning towards Ham just because he is a five tool guy who plays everyday. Oh and he has some of the best tools i have seen. I think Volquez will fold he had some great starts here and folded in the heat of texas. But think what our rotation would look like Mil, Pad, Gabbard, Volquez and should be danks. That would of set us up for a nice run. But not to get off track Josh is my favorite player and can't wait to see what he does in arlington when it gets to be a 100 degrees and the balls start flying out. Great game last night two great pitching performances out of ponson and padilla.

If Ham stays healthy this is a no brainer.  Volquez had some good starts for the Rangers, but was too inconsistent.  I am in total accord with hookem'.....did you see the homerun Josh hit 2 nights ago in Seattle where it's cold and the air is heavy??  Just think of what he can do in the heat with that jetstream.  He may be the first to hit where the "512 ft.  Hit and win a suit" sign was at.  I'd pay big money to see him hit one on the roof out there by the jumbotron.
