4 Braylon Edwards: For years Edwards struggled, but only because he didn’t have a quarterback to throw the ball to him. Now that he has a good player in Anderson tossing balls in his direction, Edwards should rise on your draft board. His tall frame is ideal and this past season has shown that he has the ability to go up and make a play on the ball. He had 16 touchdown grabs in 2007 and that was with shaky ...

12 Anquan Boldin: Playing alongside Larry Fitzgerald is no easy task, but Boldin has proven that he can. Boldin had one more touchdown than Fitzgerald, but has significantly less yards in 853. When Fitzgerald is getting the attention Boldin is often ignored, but so much the better for fantasy owners...

17 Roy Williams: His numbers slipped in 2007, and he only amassed 836 yards and 5 touchdowns. Though he didn’t play the last 4 games of the season, he showed how ineffective he can be. He dropped a league high 8 passes and can’t be relied on to provide a consistent outing each week. It is shaky to have him in ...

He dropped a league high 8 passes I have to wonder what the league counts as a dropped pass because as long as Terrell Owens has been int he league I have personally seen him drop 6-7 passes every year without seeing half his games.  Can anyone tell me what constitutes a drop?  I will pick up Roy as a first option WR if i get the chance.  Martz was a big issue with Roy's numbers last yer IMO.

Tampa- Roy drops a ton of balls. I remember last year telling my friend that Roy drops a ball every 2 games. Well it just so happens that he dropped 8. Exactly 1 per 2 games. That is too many  drops for a star WR. It's the reason I could actually argue Detroit trading the guy. I'm sick of seeing him drop easy passes and then laugh it off.  Roy needs to step up his game this year and finally become an ELITE WR. He has way too much talent not to.

Simba, My point wasn't that Roy doesn't have drops, it was that I have never seen any receiver drop as many passes as Terrell Owens and with the amount of balls that go his way I really can't imagine that anyone has more in any season.  So I ask again, what does the league count as a drop?

To clarify the question of dropped passes - dropped passes is not a league tracked stat, but is one that is tracked by some media sources (particularly if they're interested in fantasy football). As to what they count as a drop, I don't know specifically - but going out there and finding a resource that you can compare everyone on isn't too hard, so I went to the Washington Post to get some comparison numbers for discussion.

From what I found there are plenty of players who are worse then Roy Williams in passes dropped, including for example Randy Moss (9), Terrell Owens (10) and Braylon Edwards (12). These top-receivers were all on the "leaderboard" for the leaders in dropped passes over the 2007 season go to: stats.washingtonpost.com/fb/leaders.asp
On this board the worst Lions player is Shaun McDonald, who is on the leader board with 8 dropped passes (tied for 9th worst in that category), whereas Roy Williams falls off their leader board as he only has 6 dropped balls by their stats (stats.washingtonpost.com/fb/playerstats.asp).

So I see my boy Braylon still has the dropsies!!!  they still must have missed about 10 of TO's because I swear everytime i see a game of his from Dallas, Philly or San Fran he drops a good 2 balls.  People have always just seemed to forget about it because of the 60 yard TD he scored!!!!!  Thanks Elric.

Elric, Most of these guys don't even catch 60% of what's thrown their way by these stats.  I am sorry but there are very few receivers that i would take above Roy.

To make a long story short, Terrell Owens CAN afford to drop 10 passes a year and still be a fantasy star, he can make up for those drops in a New York minute, while Roy Williams CANNOT yet, as he plays for an average team with a INTs prone QB in Jon Kitna who usually spreds his TDs and INTs equally every year. Roy is still a great fantasy options, don't get me wrong, but we were just highlighting some of his negatives. That's all.

Doc, Roy's negitives seem to be the same as the other top receivers negitives except the one that's out of his control, his QB!!!!  No one can afford 10 drops in a season in my book.  Keyshawn Johnson doesn't get a lot of respect but I would be you can't find a season where he dropped more than 5 passes.  We Lions fans appreciate the AVERAGE TEAM label at this point!!  So I take it that you run that web site?  I enjoy your posts.  Keep it up!!
