I do believe the cross-state rivals will really beat up on eachother as Pennsylvania wages an epic 7 game battle.

Dallas is an outstanding team and will put up stiff competition in their series with the Red Wings.

However, this edition of the Wings might just cause the Stars to see red pretty darn quick.

The Stars vanquished my Sharks in a good, not great series. They were the better team.

The Red Wings seem destined to earn a Cup with an great mix of veterans.

I have also been abused by the Stars when they beat my team, the Ducks, in the first round.  I was surprised by both their wins over Anaheim and San Jose.  In fact, has Dallas had the good grace to get bounced in the first round like I thought, I would have been 100% in playoff predictions thusfar (pending the winner of the Anaheim/San Jose series that obviously did not take place).

Anyways, I think it's the end of the road for the good old boys from Dallas.  Detroit honestly just seems to be in a league of their own this postseason and only seems to be improving.  If its not Datsyuk and Zetterberg, it's Franzen and Fillipila.  If not them, then someone else.  Truly, they are an amazing team with all cylinders firing.

I had Detroit over Philly for the Cup and I will stand by it.  I just never thought that Detroit would have such an easy go of it.  Of course, things can always change but they sure seem unbeatable right now.

As a Dallas fan I am just plain disappointed. Dallas looked flat, discouraged, they did not skate. I sure do hope they get off theit butts and play like expect them to or this series is already over. If Dallas will play the game that they have been until now, then Detroit will have their hands full but this mess with their head stuff has got to go!

i am a wings fan but isn't it a bit early to throw in the towel?

if dallas wins game 2 then all of the talk will be how happy they are to split in detroit & gain home ice in this series.

game 1 is not always a strong indicator on how a series will go.

I'm a Red Wings fan, and the season series with Dallas has been particularly good this year, but the Pens-Flyers series really has me ready to watch games that don't involve the Red Wings.  The combination of the Flyers' gritty style and the Pens' talent is almost secondary to the in-state rivalry.  I am going to be watching hockey every night for the next couple of weeks and I'm loving it for the first time in a long time.  It is really good to have the west coast and their late (kills the midwest and east coast teams) starts out of it, too.  For the pure hockey fan, this is the best set of conference finals in years.

There are a few ways to lose a hockey game. Dallas lost because they were completely out classed. There is just no question about it. I'm sick of the coaches and players on Dallas saying I'm not concerned about detroit i'm concerned that we came out flat blah blah blah. The Stars lost because they are not as good as the Red Wings. Turco is a fine goalie but he would have to play like Dom in his prime to extend this series. The level of play by the wings is just ridiculous. They are playing solid offense and defense at the same time. Osgood is playing extremely well too. It will take a very talented team to get Detroit in a 7 game series and Dallas is not that team. I will steal the line from the stars....i'm not the least bit concerned about how the Stars play if Detroit plays up to their skill level the wings will win in four....simple as that.

no offense avatar TX, but detroit plays a completely different game than anaheim and san jose -- the dump and chase style they used in the first two rounds works well against teams who play a similar style.  unfortunately for the Stars -- detroit is about as far from a dump and chase team as you can get.

detroit has the skill players, the experience and they have rested legs -- with the way they are playing right now -- dallas will be lucky to win one game.

detroit's puck control style will give dallas fits and by the end of it all, turco will be able to identify the tail ends of franzen and hulmstrom in a photo lineup after having to look past them the whole series.

most years i'm waiting for detroit to blowup -- but this team looks locked in and they look better than the stanley cup teams they had in years past.
