Agreed - but this always happens to every great player, eventually...but he's had a GREAT run.

his dominance over - yup

can he veer be dominant for a stretch again in tennis - possibly yes

His dominance lasted so long because no one figured out how to get to him. I mean, guys had strategies, but they couldn't execute them or Roger would beat their strategy.

Personally, I don't think he'll ever be close to as dominant as he was, but he still can break the Slam record and be at the top of the world for quite some time. I think the real telling signs of where he's at compared to his opponents will be at Wimbledon and the US Open where he has dominated so much.

It took the others guys time to find a way to beat Roger - it'll also take him some time to add something new to his game or simply adjust it.

And as much as I love watching Roger play it's nice to see closer matches.

I have two thoughts about his 2008 performance so far:

1) Mono is tough.  I had it in college and couldn't even make it to class on certain days I was so fatigued.  I can't imagine trying to compete in big time world class tennis matches with it.  I don't think Roger has used it as an excuse, but I'm sure it made things much more difficult.

2) The man (sorry, THE MAN) is about to turn 27, after all.  In pro tennis that is ancient.  The road gets shorter each day no matter what he's doing.
