This article is one of many that is becoming increasingly annoying to the majority of baseball fans. The constant revisiting as to why or why not Barry Bonds should be signed to play on any given baseball team...the question of collusion.

The fact is Bonds is out of baseball and will remain out because no one wants to deal with the expected huge negative feed back from fans as well as the massive media distraction he brings to the clubhouse every day. If you are in a position to make the playoffs you don't want him and if you are in a postion of building a young team you don't want him either. Barry Bonds is a one year maybe good player opportunity not a long term opportunity. His skills have deteriorated to the point that no matter if he is still an above average player the intangible costs he brings with him are not worth a blink of consideration!

Please write about more interesting happenings around the world of MLB!

Yeah.  Must be a slow start to the season when the media are spending their time writing about a guy who's not even on a team instead of the oh, say, 750+ major leaguers that matter right now.

I'd rather they write about some middle relief pitcher from the Royals.  At least he might have an impact on an actual game.

Frankly, because it's what they wrote.  I wasn't drawn to the article because it said "Bonds."  I just read everything they put up there.  Truth be told, I feel the same way about the David Wells story.  Again:  a mid-40's guy who's not on a team, and whom some teams may or may not develop a passing interest in as the season progresses.  But neither of these guys is currently relevant.  Until they actually do something... or even get into a situation where they might be about to do something... what makes them newsworthy?  It's not like there aren't plenty of players having a greater impact (or whose stories haven't already been beaten to death) that they could write about.

It isn't that I inherently object to Bonds or Wells.  It's just that there's countless potential stories out there... it seems really lazy for journalists to just keep re-hashing the Bonds thing to meet their quota instead of writing about something new.

It's kind of like the Peyton Manning thing.  I mean, I'm a Colts fan, but if I see another commercial with him in it, I'm going to scream.  Overexposure in any medium eventually becomes more annoying than entertaining.
